I found this and Prototype Mansion under 'Violent' and got em for the Winter sale. Both are extremely well done and super overlooked. This one is definitely the more fleshed out installment. There are a lot of puzzles and winding paths leading to new unlockable areas, very reminiscent of Resident Evil 1. It is fixed camera, so the 'switch camera movement' problem is here, but thats just a given in the genre. The Weapons are pretty fun and require exploration to attain. This is definitely a 'search every nook and cranny in the map' kinda game, because more often than not a key item was off the beaten path in an area I didnt think to go. A couple of the puzzles were kind of annoying, mostly because they require you to hump the walls or find a specific place to look at with your flashlight (I actually had to talk to the devs to figure it out because no one is on the forums yet. Also there are only 3 user reviews including mine so you are all on your own) but most of them were pretty fun. One of the boss fights is pure insanity, and one of the coolest ive seen in quite a while. I had a progress glitch where one key item would disappear if you didnt get it before another key item, so I had to replay a good chunk of the game to get back to that point, but besides that the game was pretty glitch free. Also when you died there was a chance for an enemy to spawn right on top of you and insta kill you when you spawn in, which was pretty annoying. The game has a cool atmosphere, fun sense of humor, and was obviously made by people who love old school survival horror. Plus its $5 right now, I mean come on, you cant get better than that.
I love it. It's bigger than its predecessor Prototype Mansion. It mixes elements from classic games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil. In some areas it uses fixed camera angels (yeah, classic tank control), and in the bigger open areas it uses third person view. An radio noise warns the player if anything lurks nearby. The monster variety is ok so far. It reachs from slow moving, flying, quickly jumping until fast crawling one-hit killer. Locations varies, too. Item managment is required, because of the limited but upgradable inventory slots, resulting in sporadic returning to storage spots. The graphic is a bit too raw and pixelated for my taste, but is no hinderance to enjoy the game.
man, only if plants were real...
前作 Prototype Mansion - Used No Cover の続編にあたるepisodeⅡ。
Creepy and atmospheric and appropriately pixelated. LIke Protoype Mansion it's hilarious and really well made and if you like the PS1 era of survival horror you'll like this.
silent hill's biggest flaw was not letting you eat an entire pumpkin
Time is wrong. Played offline. If youve not played this devs other games, youre in for a real treat cuz they have 2 more in the same vein. Each one unique. Clunkily 90s inspired. BUT it actually works. It can be completed. The art style and heavy pixel art really works for this type of game. Tank controls. Silly menus and strange choices of UI and inventory. Its a worthwhile experience and I always enjoy seeing another release from this talented dev.
Wish I could give an "ok/mixed" review but It's a lot better than the first game, a flashlight is nice and a nice garden variety of melee weapons. The puzzles are pretty straightforward but do require a bit of work and some brain to figure out how and when to use them. Thought I softlocked pretty early by not knowing I could pick up the fuses at the start, this meant that once I had a full inventory full of items I couldn't get rid off, I couldn't pick up the fuses bc of the full inventory which I needed for the item boxes. I could have kept playing without the boxes but it would have made it a lot more frustrating item management wise, I only found out after a restart that I could have put one of the items somewhere but this would have needed some exploring. So I am glad I restarted to make use of them right away. During this first playthrough I also encountered a bug which made the lake area just 100% black without a flashlight. After restarting I learned this was not intentional. The graveyard is quite annoying with how many enemies there are, even after killing a ton of them they just kept coming back every time I reentered the area which was such a pain, Somewhere near the beginning there is some sort of pallet gun which would be useful for the enemies there but I decided to not pick it up when I found it at first and it just despawned/disappeared. Very happy with the improved save system, shooting the cats in the first one is insane and making tuna similar to ink ribbons was the better play. The autosaves were nice too until I went into the crypt and got softlocked, you have to push some coffins out of the way but one of them wouldn't fully push into the wall so I was stuck and couldn't find a way to reset their position. I went to the menu to reload my save but I was back to one of my cat saves way earlier in the game, meaning the autosaves are only for when you die. This put me so far back I was done with the game. Overall, decent puzzles, controls feel good, fun writing and graphics style. Held back by some design choices and bugs that made it frustrating for me. Hoping that when the 3rd game comes out I can give it a yes. Do not rec at full price but cool to check out if you're curious on a sale.
I love the PS1 vibes. Super nostalgic. Definitely play the first one first to follow the storyline. It took me a while to beat the first one but when I did I jumped and started yelling "Ain't no video game going to conquer me!". Love the og resident evil vibes. except that this game is nowhere near as frustrating as RE. The dialogue is funny. oh, and quick tip. Don't get your head blown off by being too curious around a specific well LOL. 10/10 would recommend.
