This simplified and cute game is about Sun Wukong, the Monkey King via sliding puzzles. It has a heavy Buddhist theme to it, but is very easy and takes only about 30 minutes to complete. This is a suitable game for young people to learn how to do these puzzles, although the last one is more complicated. You have to find up to 1 to 4 peaches on each level to progress through the gate to the next level. The story line is explained on scrolls found on each level. There are 7 levels in total. Graphics are nice, but in a dreamy way in some levels which makes it hard to see the path ahead. This is a mouse only game and you click the arrows on the screen. WASD and the arrow keys do NOT work. Moving the mouse moves the camera a little bit, but you can't do more than 90 degrees. Monkeys can't cross water, so you have to create a path to reach the peaches and the scrolls. There is an undo button if you make a mistake and also a button to bring up a grid which improves the accuracy of your decision making. I only used this in the final puzzle. Unfortunately, there are no achievements or cards attached to this game. Very fair pricing for its length. If you're looking for game that doesn't fry your brain, this is perfect!! 7/10
A friend of mine worked on this game and told me about so I decided to play it for myself :) Visually this game is absolutely beautiful, the lighting, the puzzles, scrolls and peaches were super adorable! Every level felt magical !! THE AUDIO WAS PERFECT for each level loved it a lot :D The game plays like a mobile game but it works just as well on PC, while the WASD gave me a little bit of trouble it was easy using the arrows on screen to continue through the game. I love that as you progress the levels the lighting gets a little darker like its nighttime as if you're actually progressing through your day to get to the peach. The puzzles towards the end confused me a little bit and I had to rewind but I still had an awesome time playing through this game :D ADD SETTINGS OPTION FOR AUDIO 3PO >:(
This was a quaint game with easy to understand puzzles, and an adorable twist to the Monkey King story. This is the type of game you play to calm down after a rough day or after rage quitting. I can also say that Garden of Taozi is perfectly playable on Steam Deck.
