RPG Maker strikes again! This (Daydream: Imagination Hospital) is yet another low effort pixelcrap RPG Maker asset flip made with the RPG Maker game construction kit (designed for children to use). Almost every RPG Maker asset flip is just a bunch of stock RPG Maker assets mixed with cringe-inducing high school anime club dropout fan-fiction. The "developer" here didn't know how to make a JRPG with RPG Maker, which is the only thing it's for, and instead, worse, copy + pasted out a completely crap puzzle/adventure game that's heavy on incredibly cringey Chinese high school anime club dropout fan-fiction writing. The topic is all about waking up in a creepy hospital with amnesia, possibly due to some trauma. Left untreated, such trauma can cause people to publish utterly crap RPG Maker asset flips onto Steam Direct. As with all RPG Maker games, this is the result of a really bad game engine being misused. Like all RPG Maker "games", it looks bad in fullscreen and lacks HD support or graphics options. This is not acceptable for modern PC gamers. The argument must be made that construction kit toys like RPG Maker are intended for making small games, toys and demos to pass around with friends, and should never be used as a substitute for professional game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware, the game uses low quality 2D "retro" pixelcrap art and has bad gameplay. RPG Maker is garbage and never results in products with any real value as PC games. There's no English translation for the this, but that's okay. The language of bad products is universal. It's difficult to call this a game, because of all the endless, badly written e-book/visual novel fanfiction text, which takes prime position in front of gameplay or anything PC gamers look for in a PC game. The "author" fails to grasp the important game design axiom, "Show, don't tell". You just get stuck reading walls of mediocre text, where they should have related the story through the mechanics of the game. My gaming PC is not an e-reader. We don't come to a shop for PC games looking for badly written fan-fictions. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. You're expected to pay up $5 USD to unlock content through DLC purchases. The game should not be considered completely unlocked until you empty your wallet for the developer. This is misleading and predatory pricing on a product falsely marketed as "free". In terms of public reception, the "free" price tag didn't help. This peaked at a handful of players and then immediately cratered. With a peak count of less than 50 gamers (out of over 130 million gamers and over 40 million daily logons), it’s safe to say the PC gaming community has collectively decided to ignore this, probably because of the reasons supplied in this review. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? What's the verdict? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. I didn't pay money, but I still feel ripped off.
