I came across this gem by accident while searching for retro themed games. I have really fond memories of playing Arkanoid and Galaga from my childhood and so decided to give this one a try. And over the past few days, its slowly started to become my go to game after getting home from work. The gameplay is more action packed and challenging than both of the games that inspired this game and so it gets the ball rolling quite early on. The levels are short and make for a quick bout of mindless fun and kind of makes me feel like the kid that just wanted to get back from school to play some video games with friends. While there are a few things that can be improved upon, like the UI for example, the gameplay is solid and I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the mood to indulge in some good old 80s nostalgia.
I loved it! It’s the kind of game that makes you think “where did the time go?”!
a mix up of galaga and arkanoid is the perfect description of the game. Very fun and enjoyable to play. It definitely has an addicting game feel to it. The art styles for the campaign were really nice. I can't wait to see how this game improves going forward. I was sponsored to play the game, however i did truly enjoy it. I even went as far as to obtain the high score in endless mode.
I liked the nostalgic feeling of playing an "Older Generation" game. I haven't put a lot of time into it yet, but will play it again, and have recommended it to a couple friends to try.
This is a mixed review, but recommending if bought for a low/sale price. It has some good ideas combining Arkanoid with Galaga, is simple to play and fun for a short time. There are a number of issues/constructive criticism: 1. The ball does not react like in Arkanoid - it tends to go straight up and down a lot, especially after you "catch" it. It is difficult to change the trajectory of the ball depending on which side of the bat and how acute the angle. 2. The game is far too easy - starting every level (all 10 for each theme plus endless mode) with 50 lives each time, makes it difficult to lose. These lives are reset to 50 o every level - perhaps there should be difficulty settings. I completed the entire game with all achievements in 76 minutes of play. 3. The ball should reflect/divert when it hits the aliens rather than just destroying them without changing direction. Again this could be added as a setting to make the game more challenging. 4. There could be a variety of different sizes for the alien and power-up sprites instead of them all being the same size. 5. If you pickup powerups that are in use and then die, you retain the powerup with the next ball. That is a major advantage if you have activated the powerup that allows you to destroy bricks by shooting. You don't have to fire the ball at all, as the ball does not auto-fire after so many sections after you have died. In this way you can just shoot everyting without releasing the ball at all. I completed a number of levels using this method. 6. A little more imagination is required for the "bosses" both in Campaign and Endless modes - these are just slightly moving sets of bricks and a couple that fire bullets at you. Surely this could be made progressively harder, especially in Endless mode. 7. Endless mode gets very boring very qucikly. The first 9 levels is the same small diamond shaped set of bricks to destroy that only change colour on each level. Level 10 is a boss with a lot more bricks but as stated previously these are very easy to destroy. Every set of 10 then seems to have the same pattern, there are two sets of diamond bricks in each level 11-19, then another "boss" which is the same design as on level 10 and no harder to clear. Every set of 10 seems to follow the same pattern after that. I got to level 40, as was very bored by then, so killed myself on level 41. Even this was slow as I had to lose the starting 50 lives one at a time. These are just my observations which would make the game more "polished" and better in my opinion. There could also be additional powerups added and more levels or even a level editor. I am unsure if there are going to be any updates for the game, but these would be my suggestions.
US/EN A very fun game, with aspects that bring you back to the past, it is simply to appreciate and enjoy a game so well made, with endless fun, as it has countless possibilities for different game modes and campaigns.
It's a good game, its easy and simple to understand and isnt to hard to get into. But You should add more power ups for people to use, as well as making the game harder as time passes or having a way for the player to set how hard the game will be for them and you should add in different kinds of enemies that do different things from the ones already in the game to make it harder for the player, or you could give the enemies abilities or power ups of there own.
If Peggle and Space Invaders had a baby, you would get Galaxy Bricks.
Galaxy Bricks erinnert mich an meine ersten Gaming-Erfahrungen u. a.Arkanoid. Trotz des Remakes bewahrt es den Retro-Charme. Es beginnt leicht, wird anspruchsvoller und ist perfekt für zwischendurch.
