This game is for a specific type of person. A guy like me that as a young kid would play Madden franchise mode and simulate through the whole season because managing the team, re-signing, finding players in free agency, and drafting were the best parts of the game. To me, football, in this game and in real life really, is like battle bots. Hear me out. From the front office and even the coaching perspective football is about building that well oiled machine that scores points or shuts down the opposing offense. Acquire the parts to your machine, shape the game plan, and send it off into battle. If things work, good. If they don't it's back to the drawing board. This game takes that experience to the next level, and like no other game I have played, does the best job at simulating those meaty decisions you might hope you have to address as the front office manager of an NFL team: Do I build my team around my offensive and defensive philosophy? Or do I shape my philosophy around my personnel? Do I re-sign the veteran for more than he is worth after a good season, simply because he works well in the system and understands it? Or do I go for someone new? Am I going for the win now? Or do I raise the white flag and rebuild this year? Many more situations of that nature. Those that simply cannot be solved by a meta but only by asking yourself and making the decision for better or worse. Take that experience another level up and come play multiplayer. 32 teams with GMs all making the hard decisions. The highs and the lows, the draft day busts and steals, the week long trade negotiations, all in an effort to win the only game that matters, the Front Office Bowl (the Superbowl).
I live in the UK , I watch NBC Pro Football Talk. I can relate nearly every topic concerning the NFL which is discussed on that show to this game. That's how good this simulation is. You don't always need fancy graphics to produce a great gaming experience. Very Highly Recommended
very deep franchise mode . . . no graphics but text based and that's good because it leaves more room for stats and features unavailable in the Madden series
I have played four thousand two hundred and twenty three hours. /review
I've played FOF8 multi-player for years and now I'm the commissioner of the FFL. We have a number of leagues and always could use new players. Some of our leagues you can name your team and use your own graphics but if you need help we can do that too. Just buy FOF8 if you haven't yet and register at fof-ffl.com/foffflco_forum/ and Welcome.
the only thing out there that does what this does.
Very enjoyable game that I have lost many hours in, sure that next season will be my Super Bowl championship run.
Legitimately one of the absolute most frustrating games that i have ever played in my life. There are times when it makes me want to punch my PC. Drafting an awesome prospect with great potential only to see his quality and potential plummet drastically for no apparent reason whatsoever, in spite of having a coaching staff whose primary strength is Development, over and over and over again, is ridiculous and infuriating and basically makes it impossible to actually strategize how you want to build your team (and renders it completely pointless to actually put effort into scouting, drafting well, finding diamonds in the rough, etc etc). And yet...i've stupidly wasted over 200 hours of my life on this infuriatingly random nonsense. So, i guess there's something about it that keeps me coming back. Either that, or i'm a moronic glutton for punishment.
I've been playing FOF for what feels like 20 years now. Still love this game.
Best football sim on the market.
