Frog Island

This is not what I would call a cozy game. On the surface, it's about collecting and petting and chatting with cute little frogs, and buying more extravagant seats for them to perch themselves on. Playing further, I got frustrated. It's not entirely clear at times how to progress. It's not clear how to summon a specific frog you haven't seen before. It's not clear if you're just having bad luck fishing for a certain fish or if you're in the wrong spot, same goes for bugs, recipes, etc. If you're trying to get every achievement in this game, good luck. There's a lot of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I could spend in this review trying to mitigate, but I won't (except the absurdly low rate of 'garbage' you need to fish out to upgrade your fishing rod'). This is a beautifully handcrafted game. I appreciated the difficult fishing mini-game, which incorporated 5 different kinds of classic fishing games into one. I loved the click-and-point spin on the classic Stardew Valley 'cozy game' cliche. And there's a certain darkness to the story which I haven't fully pieced together even after beating the game. This is a game with secrets that rewards players that seek them out, and it's obvious that it was made with love. I've done my best to figure them out, but I have a feeling I haven't even come close. This was a great experience. DevFrog, you should be proud.

I'm almost 4h in and I think the game is super cute. Great game to just chill on the couch and casually play.

This is a fun cozy game about frogs, it is a mix of a point and click adventure and farm sim / virtual pet etc. It took 12hrs+ to finish with help from steam discussions to solve puzzles. This game is very fun and enjoyable, there is a lot of gameplay variety (minigames and puzzles). It isn't a boring farm sim where you cut down trees mindlessly because it is somewhere closer to a point and click adventure game at some points in my opinion.

Just in the first 20 mins of playing this game, i fell in love with it. its so joyful and relaxing, this is one of my favorite games. its perfect for one of those quiet or rainy days. its a beautiful hand drawn game, i love it<3 its great for a relaxed game play and it has a nice story. would recommend to anyone who wants to feel so much joy in a small but beautiful world.

I love this game so much. It’s very cozy but it’s also got a really cool story to it, and you can tell how much thought was put into all the details. The frogs are adorable but each has unique personality and the more you talk to them the more you discover. I joined playtesting super late but it was such a great time. There’s so many things to do and different play styles. Before playtesting, I was very casual in my gameplay, but I minmaxxed more during playtesting due to the timeframe. Both play styles work for the game! You can play as fast or as slow as you want while getting to know all the frogs and uncovering the mysteries of the island. Also DevFrog managed to make a fishing minigame that doesn’t make me want to throw my device out a window, so props for that! Jokes aside, all of the elements of the game are good on their own, but they truly make something great when all put together!
