I've seen negative reviews on this game and wanted to share my perspective and experience. Frog Island is an absolute gem of a game and has so much charm, from the huge variety of adorable hand-drawn toys/decorations, to the hilarious dialogue and deeper story that the player gets to discover bit by bit by exploring the island. I've personally tried both a relaxed playstyle and a min-max playstyle (the latter is my preferred way of playing games like Stardew Valley), and I can say that both playstyles are very fun with this game. I'm not the hugest fan of very relaxed gameplay, but when playing this game I found that I always had something to do. However, unlike some of the negative reviews I've seen, the game NEVER forces you to play at a certain pace or be at a certain skill level to progress. The minigames are very fun (especially the fishing minigame!) and explained clearly. Any "difficult" minigames are only for rarer fish/bugs, and they become much easier once you upgrade your tools, as expected of most farming sim games! Quests can be done at the player's own pace, and encourages players to search the island for themselves to solve riddles/puzzles. Players who prefer to be given the answers to these puzzles are easily able to consult the very helpful and friendly Frog Island community, and the dev has also stated that the Frog Island wiki will be up very soon. It's clear how much love and work the dev put into the game. My favourite part is meeting new frogs to complete my collection, and discovering the secrets around the island (and there is a LOT to discover!). Later in the game, there are scenes that have genuinely made me tear up. And I'm still not finished the game! I would highly recommend trying out Frog Island to anyone who enjoys the cozy farming sim + creature collector genre, or even to anyone who wants to hang out with adorable frogs :)

I really like this game! It's a fun, cozy game for the most part. The fishing mini-game is a bit complicated in comparison but it seems like that will be adjusted soon. It's cute and simple and relaxing... I see the point others are making about some directions being vague or missing - obviously not ideal but I was able to figure it out so it's def not a deal breaker for me. Might need a little polishing but I like it and recommend it regardless!
I don't often review games I've played, but this is absolute gem and deserves so much appreciation! So far I love everything about this game. The art style, the simple but creative interactive mechanics, the island's story, and all the different FROGS! (Glint is my favorite so far <3) You can just feel all the love and care the developer put into the game. This is what Neko Atsume should have been -- having the ability to progress the game at your own pace without worrying about real time synchronization being forced. I cannot wait to play more and lose track of time! :)
You guys are gonna frog islanding thid Frog Island game Fr! Wow! I waited 3 years for this game ! And seeing comes to life is sureal! The creators puts lots of love into this game but rly though u guys will love it like i do to uwahahah :,)
This is a must-try game for any cozy/farming/life sim gamer, I am honestly shocked that it is as cheap as it is. Think Neko Atsume meets Virtual Villagers. The art style and soundtrack are beautiful, gameplay is relaxed and doesn't overwhelm/micromanage you, and there is SO much to do! I did not think that this game would be as in-depth or as detailed as it is. There are a ton of easter eggs and extremely well-thought-out pieces of the game that have made me fall in love with it even more. It also has my absolute #1 favorite fishing mechanic i've ever seen in a cozy game. I love when you can tell that a dev team has poured their heart and soul into their project. While quests can be complex at times, I have also found a lot of wonderful help from the friendly Frog Island community. I love this game so much already and I can't wait to see how it grows.
Really fun game so far! I'm enjoying and appreciating the storyline and game mechanics, though I agree that the fishing minigame could be easier. (A certain fish eludes me.) The frogs are very cute too.
It is a cozy frog game for less than the price of a cup of coffee at many places, what's not to love? This game also has one of the best fishing systems I have ever seen.
Love this game!! <3 I wasn’t expecting the most innovative or in-depth gameplay, especially since I had already played the demo, so I was actually really pleasantly surprised by how well the minigames were implemented. I especially enjoy fishing for rare fish and catching rare insects, which can be surprisingly challenging at times. The little background stories for each frog are also really cute and give them a bit more personality. That being said, I can definitely understand that this game won’t be for everyone. Personally, I really enjoy collecting insects, fishing, taking care of the frogs, and doing a bit of farming. I also love that you can use the things you collect to buy cute little items that help you discover new frogs. However, the gameplay isn’t particularly deep, so I can absolutely see how some people might find it boring after a while. But if you enjoy simple, relaxing gameplay, cute graphics, little stories, and lots of adorable things to collect and buy, I think you’ll feel right at home here. I actually like that the game doesn’t explain everything to you right at the beginning. It encourages you to explore and figure things out for yourself instead of having every little gameplay detail immediately explained. That said, I do think there should at least be a small explanation of the keyboard controls. The one thing I’m still missing is a really nice, cozy soundtrack. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this game to anyone who enjoys relaxing cozy games and doesn’t need extremely deep or complex gameplay to have a good time. 🐸 PLS ADD CUTE POINTSHOP PIIICS <3
I really like this game so far. Theres a lot of story into the game with all the individual frogs and the island. It is a lot of text though and if you have a short attention span you will most likely skip most of it and instructions… However the game is simple and cute. Some parts of the mini games are tricky.. depends on the rarity of bugs and fish from what I’ve seen so far, but it’s not too bad. Definitely a nice cozy game you could spend hours on.
Game loop is already monotonous and boring. Thought something would finally happen after grinding 5000 coins for a forest key, it did nothing but unlock an irrelevant minigame. The game flashes secrets and puzzles in your face that you can't solve, because it doesn't give you the tools. I don't know if I have to hit some arbitrary level to unlock the shovel or find it somewhere (something you don't do with a single other tool), because the game pretty much tells you nothing until a random event happens to introduce it. It is also completely impossible to look this up online because of the publisher name. Waiting for random events to happen is tedious because the gameplay is boring without anything to actually strive for. There are a few sparce hints about recipes or a frog's favorite food, but not enough to keep you occupied for longer than 10 seconds after you learn it and immediately solve it. So the rest of the time is spent doing random things to maybe further your completion and losing your limited resources that you have to grind back, and waiting for the next hint. That's the biggest problem with this game, there's nothing to do early on and not enough that points you in the right direction to feel like you're making real progress. This game could be good if it receives some content and QoL updates (the quest menu is terrible at telling you what you are looking for), it just needs more game essentially. Right now it's a bunch of mediocre minigames for nothing, since there is not enough glue stitching these activities together to make them feel meaningful. I hope the dev can implement this feedback since this is obviously a project they care about a lot and want to be the best it can
