Okay, look, I love the story and voice acting and the bonus mode is fun but DEAR GOD there are SO many things I hate about this game. To name just a few: • 90% of the designs are horrendous, especially when you compare them to the Friendsim/Pesterquest designs, and some don't even look like the characters they're supposed to be at all (Skylla and Daraya what happened to you), • a lot of the characters are wildly mischaracterized, and while I do understand they've grown up and could change, it honestly feels like the creators wanted to make their own thing but had to make a fangame for unknown reasons instead and they're completely changing the characters to their image, • the TechniColor Heart achievements are absolute hell to get, and while I do like a good challenge when I hunt for achievements, some are just straight up unfair because of how they work. I tried to get the Garage Grunge achievement legitimately for like a week but the items kept falling in such awkward places that I don't think it's even possible to get it without saving and loading during a round, • this game is extremely confusing and unclear at times. There's currently 12 volumes as of me writing this and I only finished two or three without a guide, which brings up another problem that will thankfully stop applying over time, but some volumes simply don't have guides. I spent around an hour each in two spots in volume 12 because I didn't know what to do, and since I played the volume a couple of days after it came out there weren't any guides online. Hell, even the previous volumes had no guide at all and I had to look up official livestreams on YouTube to know what I'm supposed to do at all. And the best part? Their solution to this is making a half-unfinished Steam Guide to SOME of the volumes instead of, you know, changing the dialogues a bit to give you the slightest clue on what to do or where to go. Overall, this is the Velma of Homestuck, except this is thankfully fanmade

I've been having a lot of trouble with the programming in this game, it is SO BAD. Half of the little games the dev tried to design lag and don't flow well at all, especially the hiveswap rip and the one in i think the third volume. From janky hitboxes to commands that straight just won't work I don't know where to begin. I've also had scenes where the game trips over it's own code and just keeps giving me errors. I've missed a lot of dialog thanks to this. I'm just saying, if you call something like this your passion project, I'd say you're lacking a lot of passion. Now I know the dev is a single mom with a full time job but, this game has been out for YEARS and it seems like not a single bug has ever been fixed. Even in a life that busy I know there has to be some down time. The choices in character redesign and voices have also been a little irksome. It feels like some of the stuff being pushed is partially a self-insert and partially just trying to be progressive. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for being progressive and open-minded but, not everything has to have an agenda to be enjoyable. Sometimes it's good to stick to original stuff, especially when it comes to religion or sexual orientation. On the subject of sexuality, there needs to be a bigger warning in volume 6 for the polyamorous subject matter. I have a lot of trauma from two previous poly relationships and quite frankly, being a mediator for one that hit close to home was not something I enjoyed. I genuinely wish you could skip some volumes without having to play through the entire volume before it. If you have content warnings before volumes and you can't skip the volume, what's even the point? The lack of guides for FOUR of the volumes is also insane. Some of the characters are very dialogue sensitive and if you get one dialogue choice wrong you have to do the WHOLE thing over again because you can't save during conversations like that. Again, I know she's a busy dev but, there's got to be some time or maybe even a friend that can take a look and tweak some of the programming. Unfortunately I can't say I'd recommend this game until it gets some serious fixing. I had to stop playing during the seventh volume just because things legit stopped working at all. I was super excited through the first four volumes but that quickly wore off and was replaced with frustration.
she friend on my sim till i 2
this game is laughably bad and that is literally the only good thing about it
Friendsim 2 is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This garbage high school anime club dropout fan-fiction is about the authors imaginary friends from another dimension or something... I actually went blind trying to read this garbage because it was so cringey my immune system took emergency measures and blocked my eyesight to prevent further harm. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience, but with much worse writing (because if these guys could write professionally, they'd be published authors and this would be on shelves in bookstores, and they wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam), and you have your average Steam e-book. One of the chief problems with failed authors polluting Steam with non-game E-books is that E-books can easily just be presented in a web browser... there's no justification for charging money on Steam for what might as well be a webpage. We don't spend thousands on buying a gaming rig to spend money on Steam for something Chrome or Firefox could do. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the e-book peaked at less than 100 concurrent readers, they couldn't even break three figures, and now there's basically nobody reading it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. While this E-book is "free", you can get better quality, professionally written books and comics for free online (from places like Project Gutenberg) or from public libraries. Steam isn't a comic book store, neither is it Netflix, it's for games. Your gaming rig is not a Kindle. It's impossible for me to recommend things to PC gamers that aren't really games. Note: This e-book features a number of fake reviews from fake review accounts created by the author (weirdly all called "Skeypon4") intended to mislead gamers by creating a false positive review score. Due to the 2024 FTC ruling (16 CFR Part 465), these fake reviews are a violation of US Federal Law. Take the review score for this garbage e-book with a grain of salt.
the game has lynera in it 11/10
Kudos and congratulations to the team. I think it's cool when fan-games of this scope come together. As for a review, if you like Homestuck and the "expanded video game universes", you might enjoy this. The writers most of my favorite characters dirty, but I still enjoyed it overall.
