Wow, that was good enough you actually got me to write a review. There are many indie games that have tried to tackle the subject of depression, but your surrealist take is the first I've seen that's captured the feeling of it perfectly, at least it's very true to my experiences. The slight, but ever present unease that grows and grows until it becomes overwhelming, the need to burrow deep inside your imagination to escape from yourself, the fear of being a burden on your loved ones, it was completely and totally beautiful. I cried for the first time in a long time at the end of it. I can't wait to see what the finished product looks like. If you have $2 to spare, you should definitely check it out. One playthrough, will probably take you like 1-2 hours. The controls are a little buggy, and I did have to restart once during that scene with the dog, but honestly, I can overlook it. The heart and soul of the game really got to me and it made me want to keep going, despite the bugs and initial trouble I had with the puzzles. (I'm not saying the puzzles are hard, I am just very dumb.) Also, the Thanus fruit was a nice touch, lol.
It's a short game, the translation isn't really there yet, but still this gem is a gem sitting in a dusty shelf somewhere in an abandoned house. It just needs a little polishing here and there to become a better game. highly recommended

As a person who also has depression issue, this game hit me really hard. The dream part is beautiful and sad. There are a few issues about translation and bug that may ruin your experience but it's still bearable.
This was a very surprising game for sure. + touches on very sensitive topics - depression, parents expectations (from what i know very apparent in Chinese parents) + free + gameplay isn't either overly long, nor too short - just enough to convey a message + I personally really liked the graphics +/- depends on a person, but I felt as if it's a horror game. Like really, if it was a psychological horror - it would be perfect! I was uneasy for most of the game, especially parts played inside the house. - I had to check solution - some parts weren't very clear - translation to English isn't the best - moving around was weird - was confusing at some moments
为什么我打不开它啊呜呜呜
Freud Gate’s theme is depression, and follows Sigmund Freud’s model of the psyche, the Id, Ego, and Super Ego. Freud Gate shows you how there may be people around you that are depressed, and shows you it’s not as obvious as “being sad.” You follow and help a young girl as she finds another road. Freud Gate is a lovely walking sim with a few puzzles and interactions. The music goes well with the scenes and the ending was beautiful and satisfying. There were a few problems though I found as I was playing. The controls of the game gave me a slight motion sickness, this may vary with individuals but I think that should be fixed. The second issue I discovered was at the very last scene, you could run through some of the rocks as if they were not there, and if you run along the walls there are very obvious gaps, places you can see through the rocks, and places you can fall off the map. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience! Thank you!
I'd like to recommend it but can't do it. Graphics are great and got me, but puzzles are boring and unfair. The game tries to be deep and philosophical but fails into it and at the end its just another pretentious game. Had potential tho.
