About
Explore the domains of other fox spirits to gain essence and challenge them in turn-based battles. Once you’ve gained enough power, set your sights on defeating the Celestial Fox to stand above all fox spirits as the strongest.
It won’t be easy, but you can retry as many times as you need. Each attempt teaches you more, gradually revealing a path to victory.
This is a simplified RPG with turn-based battles. You’ll see a map with icons that you can click to “explore.” When you explore, text will describe what happens and present choices for how to proceed. Most choices help develop your character’s stats, and occasionally they will lead to battles.

Reviews
A simple game of trial and error. It felt satisfying once you learned all the locations and were finally able to steamroll all the planets. The catharsis of finally beating up all the cute foxes after an hour was worth the $5.
FoxHaunt is a turn-based game about discovery, intuition and perseverance. The game is pretty straight forward and simple, but it is extremely challenging. It partially reminds me of more old school RPGs, especially on how mercyless they were. The solo developer made a very detailed combat system that you don't usually see even in AAA RPGs, which is absurdly formidable for a debut title. This IS a game you need to pay FULL attention to what you're doing. Also, the fox girls are extremely cute. I want plushies immediately!

This is a really cute game! It's quite short, but it's fun to try the different choices and see what results come out, and I think the art is very charming.

Very interesting design for this title, with a combat system that's a bit more complex than it looks. You have a set of 8 worlds, each with 4 choice events and a boss. You won't know what each choice does or even where the boss is until you experiment and try. The game will remember what you get from each choice so you know in advance what will happen the next attempt. There's an achievement for doing all the choices in a single save (so you will have to intentionally die on bosses to get everything), so make sure to do those potentially unoptimal choices until you have all of them visible to you. Each boss has a unique modifier to your powers, their orb, and these give you a lot more build variety than at first glance. Each boss fight is played out in a turn based manner, where you choose a form and an aura which modifies your stats for that turn, and each one has an advantage against one your opponent chooses. Some of the orbs will care about type advantages, but they can mostly be ignored unless you're borderline on a combat. There's not much music but what's there is good! The artwork is quite good, the foxes are really cute and there's a good amount of personality in their designs. It's very tough to choose but I think I like
Red Foxing Hood
the best. It's pretty inexpensive, and while there is some build variety there's not a huge amount of replay value; but it's short enough that you can pick it up in a year or two and have fun with it. It played perfectly on a Linux desktop and I expect it to be a great Deck game as well.
