very good, sad to see it abbandoned and not get updated
2/10 A TBS implementation of the board game Lost Souls. Good: - free - the underlying game "Lost Souls" is actually quite good (judging by the rules as they're explained here and the few minutes I played it against myself) So-so: - no sfx or music - it's a very basic implementation with Unity primitives (boxes) and simple color fills. Most of the game is just gray. There is still a nice-looking sea with waves and a glow effect in the main castle which make it look a bit better Bad: - it's unclear which pieces are which until you build them. Would need a tooltip when you hover over a piece. Of just more thematic models - to move a piece, you need to drag it. The drag doesn't always work (don't know, some raycasting bug?). Also, you can't move the knight by 2 tiles (or a unit entering the road), instead you need to do 2 separate drags - can't see the range of movement of enemies or archers' attacks - that's common in TBS games, especially if ranges of movement is all this game is about (no hp, no attack power, just the movement) - no AI opponent, no single-player content (I could imagine such a game having a campaign with levels of increasing difficulty) - no tutorial, it's just a page of somewhat poorly formatted text. Thankfully the rules are pretty simple, so you can read them and still remember them once you start the game - UI is just Unity stubs It's a lazy, bare-bones Unity game which could work as a student assignment or a hobby project of a dev who doesn't plan to publish. Putting it on Steam is a waste of $100. I mean, the feedback is obvious: need to actually develop the game. What's the point of gathering downvotes? It would just demotivate. My advice would be to make this game in 2D - this would allow the dev to use some nice-looking 2D images which wouldn't even need animations if, say, they looks like cards or something. Could even AI-generate those, I dunno. Or buy stock assets. 3D is hard to get right. And single-player content is the way. test review
For what it is, it's fun. It's not much at the time of writing this as it'll need an AI, possibly better tutorial, and ways to "spice up" the gameplay among other things. However, all the core pieces are there. As an aspiring game dev myself I really enjoyed it! It's even free which is nice, especially since the dev likely spent real money to publish the game!
it is a really fun game i just wish there was a bit more than just this. It is already great to play with your friends and family but there isn't much to really do I still recommend people to play this great idea of a game. but please make more.
