About
"No strategy. Just witness the end."
"Forgive or Finalize" is a short-form, experimental psychological thriller visual novel. You confront the mysterious Finn through a monitor in a confined space. There are no grand reversals, intricate puzzles, or strategic elements. As "Jamie," your only role is to stand witness to the absurd situation that "Finn" unfolds before you, and see it through to its conclusion.
This is not a game about making choices—it is an experience about witnessing.
If you enjoy short visual novels and narrative experiences driven by atmosphere and direction, you will find a dense psychological experience in a brief playtime.
If you are looking to freely branch the story through your choices, or seeking strategy and puzzle elements, this game may not meet your expectations. The choices in this game do not offer gameplay freedom—they function as part of the narrative.
Dialogue and Absurd Developments: You will face the questions posed by "Finn" on the other side of the screen. However, in this confined space, you are not granted true freedom. Choices are presented, but the story will not bend to your will.
Interactive Direction: More than just reading—intervene in the story through direct actions such as "picking up" or "consuming" the mystery capsule.
Psychological Pressure: Experience a sense of claustrophobia and heart-pounding tension. When you realize the true nature of this "dialogue," your reality may be forced to transform.
(1) Sudden loud noises, flashing lights, and shocking psychological depictions are included.
(2) Streaming and fan content are welcome, but major spoilers (the core of the ending) in thumbnails or social media are strictly prohibited.

Spoiler!!! - This is JUST my opinion. Game built around taking or passing pills. Doesn't let you pass the pills. When I looked at this I thought it'd be some kind of buckshot roulette visual novel. I imagined: "Oh, look at this game! Pixelated graphics, gambling, debts. Oh boy I'm sure this game will talk about how capitalism in a dystopian era makes people risk their lives and the lives of their beloved ones just to be able to survive another week-" AND THEN SOMEHOW THE OTHER CHARACTER PULLS OUT TIME POWERS AND NOT EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STORY. First of all, Finn is clearly bait so that people write fanfics of him and them as a "yandere" and then the game gets more popularity, that is as clear as water. And his appearance is BASICALLY a COPY AND PASTE of PETER DUNBAR, an already yandere character (which I don't like but come on! it is clearly based on him. Like that one joke where you share your homework with your buddy and ask him to make his answers slightly different than yours so that you aren't caught and he just copy pastes everything and changes a word!) The flashback looks like an anime sequence with anime music, it is a joke. The button moving away... It is done in a way so goofy that the story cannot be taken seriously. There is basically no gameplay it shouldn't even be a game. It could fit in a half an hour video. So in conclusion: The character is fanfic bait, the story is lazily written to be mysterious just as an excuse to have less work load and not need to actually make your choices do something so that the whole game can just be a PowerPoint presentation of a story and every single detail is so bad that it isn't even a "fun" level of bad! If you have a different opinion please say it, but don't come saying "It says in the description almost no freedom of choice" because it is not just that, if it was just that well, another visual novel to the list that gives no freedom of choice as if there weren't enough. I'm complaining over how the creator clearly picked out a concept like this to draw attention just to give us the biggest disappointment on history by adding a yandere character that is a copy of Peter Dunbar and the fighting stick figures from the youtube videos with magical powers. Engagement bait.

Please don't mind the negative reviews! This game absolutely delivered. It was never said that it's a choice based game. It's a storyline that's short yet engaging. I hope u guys try it coz i felt a mix of emotions going through it.
I find Necxels's review as highly rated helpful a bit disheartening. The creator is quite frank in their description of this game. They say, and I quote, "You are given almost no freedom of choice. Simply face the absurd situation and witness the end." and yet this review complains of a lack of choice. You are simply there to relax and enjoy. The only thing I will critique is the loop being a little bit repetitive but a SKIP button was provided to compensate for this fact. I think people are rating this as a bad game when it simply wasn't THEIR TASTE and there is a difference. Great job! Keep makin more games!
First of all, the game advertises itself as having no strategy or puzzles and that there's almost no freedom of choice so don't go into this game expecting choices like the people reviewing this negatively. Now that we got that out of the way, I really enjoyed the story, the artstyle and expressions are beautiful and for a free game this was a really nice short experience, I did also feel sad over the story which I rarely do but idk if that's because it's good or if it's just relatable, eitherway I enjoyed this a lot and don't regret playing it whatsoever. Also ♥♥♥♥ Jamie.
Don't listen to all the reviews complaining about a lack of choices, as it says on the game's page that choices don't impact the story, so none of those people should've played the game anyway. For the rest, it's really a matter of opinion, but I personally really enjoyed the story. If you're unsure, I think you should just try it without caring about the mixed reviews, as the game is free and only takes around 30 minutes. There's not much I can say without spoilers, but I can say that I really liked Finn's expressions. They presented his character very well. I also thought the plot twists were very interesting, as they kept me engaged throughout the story.
I love when a game uses perspective to give you a false impression of the real narrative. From the beginning you think this is a game about lies, deceit, distrust. However, when the "take" loops, you realise this isn't your average psychological game show. Finn, the person that says they are helping you, is not a contestant like you. He demands drama, and clearly has a lot more power in the situation than you. He's acting so evil towards Jamie, he must hate her... right?

Until he mentions they have a connection. Not only do they know each other outside of the game, they are both lovers. So if they're both lovers, why does he act so evil to her? This is the second major plot twist and really kept me on the game for its entirety, as this story clearly had many more layers than I thought in the beginning. This story isn't about distrust, it's something a lot more sinister. But mainly, it reveals there's a lot about Jamie, the character we are playing as, that we clearly don't know. So, you continue to act for Finn for the rest of the retake, as you have no other choice (where you see that your choices not mattering is actually used purposefully for impact).

So now it's the final take, where you notice Finn not taking off his mask as much. All questions unanswered, you go through what seems like the final loop of the same thing again, until Finn takes pill E. The next moment, you finally get some context. Jamie and Finn have both done this before. back then, the E pill was moved from her side to his, and he ingested it as she thanked him. But then why is it happening again now? Well, that time, he didn't take the pill from her. Jamie gave it to him. This was, to me, the most shocking plot twist. Finn is dead. Jamie looked him in the eyes as she sentenced him to death. Her love. The person you didn't know the whole game wasn't Finn, it was the very character you were playing as. The real theme of the game is nothing about distrust, because all of the lies have already happened before. Both characters knew what was happening, and that its happened before. The only one that didn't know was you. The real theme all along, was guilt.

Even so, Finn, or whatever spirit this is of him, cannot bring himself to kill her. He asks if she forgives him for all he's done. But then... you can't. And it leaves you to wonder why. All it seems he's done is put her through this haunting, but that's nothing to the fact that she betrayed and killed him. Events unfold and the game ends, only giving you a little bit of context through the good ending. If you force yourself to forgive him, he realises Jamie would never do that. He reveals he's the reason she's a traitor, possibly linking to her debt and the reason she entered the game with him in the first place: for money.

Still lacking information, the game ends, never seeing what Finn did or why Jamie couldn't forgive him...
It leaves me to wonder why, and if the game is ever going to add any more, or just leave you to your own interpretation. Very interesting storytelling, especially for a free game. I'll definitely wanna know if the game ever gets updated, as this story is very interesting to me, but still feels incomplete/unresolved
I have no idea why the reviews are so bad, it's a good short horror narrative VN game. People are just mad that they expected some multi-hour long story from a short free horror game. strange.
This game is... confusing. I think it is very evident that the game was not originally made in English. Perhaps the original is better, but the English translation isn't very clear. There are many misspellings and weird word choices that don't make much sense. The gameplay really isn't that much of gameplay, its more of just a visual novel as the choices you make don't change much. The point of a visual novel is the plot which you read, so if the wording and therefore plot don't make sense, there is no reason to play it. If you want to out of curiosity, go ahead. That's what I did. It only takes about 30 minutes to get through all the content. Just don't be surprised when you get to the end and wonder what the point was.
