I am Cornholio! I need TP for my bunghole! All kidding aside though this game is a ton of fun!
I went through my entire VR library a few days ago, to like sort out all the trash and find what hidden gems might hide there. This is one of those games I found. This was my first time playing cornhole, it isn’t a game that is played in northern Europe, at least from what I’m aware of. I didn’t like this game at first. It seemed like it had input delay when releasing and the easy AI was smoking me on the easiest course. It also didn’t help that the ‘guide line’ was totally off angle and just useless to follow. But after a few attempts, I started to get the hang of it and I now think it is a pretty good VR game, if you are looking for something free to play at least. The game has a pretty good single player mode against different AIs of different difficulties. It features multiple different maps with different cornholes at various different distances and angles. It also has a good unlock system with you unlocking new levels, skins and pouches as you continue to play. The pouches do feel a little light though, they could use more weight to them I feel like, but since I never actually played the real thing, I might be wrong. There is an issue with the menu buttons being slow and just not registering inputs, but it is mostly an issue with the ‘Play again button’ that doesn’t seem to work at all. This game also has an ingame store with microtransactions, like a lot of VR titles, but thankfully it isn’t something that is over advertised and in your way at all. This is a good free to play VR game, highly recommend it. I’ll play the bowling game from same devs after I got through my current list of games waiting. _________________________________ Help me out by following my Curator, I’d really appreciate it!!
Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my gameplay here: https://youtu.be/e7ILwgc1wzY The game is fine. It's cornhole for VR. So you're basically throwing a bag at a board with a hole. You're trying to get it in the hole or at least on the board. If you get it in a hole, then you get 3 points. If you get it on the board, you get 1 point. There is some strategy as far as throwing it and taking out your opponent's bags, sort of like bocce, but it rarely happens. The bigger the margin of victory, the more points you get towards either 11 or 21. There's classic mode where you basically just rotate between two areas or the tour one where you go to several different areas of the map with different distances / angles to make it more challenging. No matter what you do though, you're still just throwing a bag at or near a hole. So the gameplay is rather simplistic. The throwing physics is okay. I wouldn't say it's "realistic" or whatever that means in VR, but it works and is consistent. You can even increase or decrease the power in the settings if you need help. The thing that makes Cornhole VR work is the online social hub that ForeVR has built into their online multiplayer experiences. You can play offline solo, online pvp against 1 other person, play with a friend online, or play up to 4 players locally (pass and play). You can move around the nice-looking environment and enjoy YT music or just talk as humans do. I was able to test online multiplayer and I did run into some issues. I tried 3 different times and 2 out of the 3 times, the other player disconnected. I was finally able to play a full game on my third try, but I did notice some lag from the other player even though my ping was fine. The games are easy to get into so almost anybody can play. Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting steady 90 fps. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs other than the other two players disconnecting. You can play seated or standing. You do have full locomotion or teleportation, along with smooth or snap turn. This title is about exactly what you would expect. Designed to be played in multiplayer for sure. Like the other ForeVR games, this one also has the ability to tap into YouTube for music when playing. It also has a really solid system for adding virtual weight to your bags, which allowed me to tune it to about the same power and flick of the wrist that i would have to apply in a real life game of corn bag toss
Really quite good for what's on offer, can't complain when it's free. Love that you can adjust the throw strength if you think your motion controller is being detected as too weak or strong for your perception of power. Hope to play this with some friends and online players soon.
Its... cornhole! You throw a bag to a board with a hole, each player (1v1) throws 4 bags one after the other to the same board, after both players have thrown the bags, you count the points each one had (if you get in the hole you get 3 points if it lands on the board you get 1 point) you can play to 11 or 21 points depending how lengty you want the game to be. both are pretty quick. Graphics are nice, physics feel great! not realistic, but i could be consistent with my throws. The game has microtransactions in bag and board skins and premium levels. I found if fun for a few games, throw mechanics work fine, not realistic, but i was consistent with my throws. it has a social aspect so ill try to set up a playtogether with friends, but havent done that at the time of writing this. Recommended for people interested in a light casual game of cornhole, i think it deserves a chance, it is free after all.
