Annoying
footlol is a funny soccer game defiantly good way to kill time runs good on steam deck with the touch screen and on the pc with mouse battery life is great with the deck
Funny for about 5 minutes. You spam abilities, watch ragdolls flop around and wonder where the actual game went. The joke gets old before halftime.
I have difficulty with games like this one. It feels like it should be a free browser-based game despite costing money, but it’s perfectly serviceable and kind of fun. Most of the abilities feel viscerally good to use. It feels great to wail on the CPU with raining hellfire and an army of Spartan warriors. The silly elements that don’t involve explosions aren’t that funny, so the “LOL” in the title doesn’t feel that apt, but the punishment you can inflict on the players is amusing enough. I want to recommend it because it feels like it delivers on what it advertises. If it’s on sale, you could consider this review a maybe, but there are just too many design shortcomings. The abilities are unbalanced as hell, as you really only need the red card and an obstacle breaker. The CPU is unable to offer any challenge unless it has one of the broken abilities and knows how to spam it. The campaign is ultra-repetitive, and stretched out far too long, with the extra planets being absolute overkill. There are exactly three types of challenge: scoring more goals within a time limit, increasing the gap between your scores to a certain number, and the optional challenge of replicating two scoreboards before winning. The optional challenge being on every level and being randomized sucks any sense of fulfillment out of it. The first challenge, which is the most common one, often results in you building an insurmountable lead and waiting out the clock, especially as the came clocks get longer. I often did just that and stepped away from the laptop without issue. Finally, for me, at least one achievement (“Sieve”) seems to be broken. This game is fun, but probably not worth paying for and definitely not worth finishing.
