About
Welcome to FLIPSWEEPER, a pure, bite-sized logic puzzle experience designed to test your deduction skills and your speed. If you love grid-based puzzle games but crave focused, individual challenges rather than giant, overwhelming boards, you are in the right place.
Analyze the numbers on the grid to deduce the exact pattern of light and dark tiles. It starts simple, but as you progress from Easy to Expert, you will need flawless logic and quick reflexes to paint the board perfectly and earn a top rating.
40 Generated Puzzles: Jump into a carefully tuned difficulty curve featuring 10 Easy, 10 Medium, 10 Hard, and 10 Expert grids, all mathematically generated to ensure a strict, fair logic challenge.
Unlockable Customization: Personalize your puzzle experience by unlocking 7 additional distinct color themes as you play!
Evolving Visual Themes: The game launches with our charming, "Cat Pack" of puzzles! Future level packs will introduce completely new visual themes and sprite sets to keep the grid looking fresh.
The 3-Star Mastery System: Just beating the puzzle isn't enough for true completionists. Every level features three distinct star goals: completing the board, beating the strict target time, and winning while staying under the maximum allowed hint limit.
Achievement Hunter's Dream: With over 90 unique Steam Achievements baked right into the game, you will always have a new milestone to chase.

FLIPSWEEPER features the exact same core gameplay as Mark Ffrench's Mosaic / Proverbs games. However, instead of tasking you with completing one massive, singular piece of artwork, the gameplay is split into multiple individual levels organized by difficulty (given by the complexity of the mental process used to deduct the solution). The logical process is exactly the same: you assign either a light or a dark color to every cell on a grid based on numbered tiles, which indicate how many light tiles surround them (including the numbered tile itself). It's a mixture of Picross and Minesweeper, if you so want. While Mark Ffrench's titles tend to be more generous with their number hints, FLIPSWEEPER requires a lot more deduction. You'll need to look at adjacent numbers and overlap their regions to determine how to color their extremities. It is nothing overly complicated, but it does demand extra mental visualization. Otherwise, the quality-of-life features are identical and include a hint function, an undo button, and an error checker that activates after a few mistakes (around five, by my count). The scrolling for big levels, on the other hand, is very poorly designed (the UI partially covers the tiles found at the edge of the level, and you can’t even see anymore what numbers they contain). However, FLIPSWEEPER adds timers to its levels, and this is one thing that I really can't get along with when it comes to games that rely purely on logic and are also designed to be relaxing. I don't like being pressured to think fast; I want to take my time to analyze the board and solve the level at my own pace. Watching a timer tick down and fearing I might lose a star ruined the experience for me, despite me being a huge fan of the gameplay. While the 3-star ratings are only necessary for achievements, as an achievement hunter, the prospect of spending a dozen hours under constant stress just to get a 100% completion felt deeply unappealing. The times are extremely tight, even on medium difficulty, and someone who wants to play the game in a relaxed way would take double or even triple the allowed time. While there is a Zen mode that hides the timers, it limits you to one star, meaning you cannot unlock around half of the game’s achievements. And to top it off, having this whole timer mechanic is quite nonsensical in itself. Since the levels are NOT procedurally generated, nothing prevents the player to solve the level using unlimited hints and allowing themselves any amount of time (disregarding the stars corresponding to these restrictions), then screenshot the end configuration, restart the level and just apply it to get the timed achievement. Because Mark Ffrench’s games lack this stress and feature much clearer visual indicators for completed tiles, they remain a far stronger recommendation. FLIPSWEEPER is a tad cheaper ($6 vs. $8–$13) but offers around half of the content and the user experience is just too tense. It’s by all means a very decent game on its own, but it’s just not as good as Mark Ffrench’s titles. Plus, it lacks the educational aspect that Mosaic of The Pharaohs offers for instance, where almost every completed section gives you a small tidbit about Egyptian history. If you want to try this specific style of gameplay without the stress, I highly recommend checking out 2025: Mosaic Retrospective, which gives you about 25 hours of great content entirely for free.
