Flicker of Hope is a suspense thriller where you play as a small candle in the ruins of a dark cathedral. Though the halls are littered with victims of a mysterious plague, you are not the only soul left. Use the properties of a candle, and a trusty douter to prevent yourself from being discovered.
Little spooky adventure with a walking candle character. Have some similarities to Little Nightmares. Solve simple puzzles like pushing something, avoid the creature and generally be fast because you're melting as we speak! Definitely worth checking out.
More like Little Lightmares, amirite? This game was actually a pretty good time, and yeah, it IS very much like Little Nightmares, but this one is different in that instead of the platforming and throwing mechanics, you have a timer of sorts: as you stray too far away from the puddles of wax that are strategically placed throughout the game, you gradually melt away and need to replenish yourself at the next wax puddle. On top of all of this is the fact that you're being stalked by an unknown assailant that is bent on snuffing you out, and trust me, if you aren't quick on your feet, you will get snuffed out. More than likely multiple times. You can snuff yourself out to stealth yourself (somewhat), and dash, which uses wax at a faster rate. The game looks and plays very well, I had no issues at all the entire time that I played. It actually looks *quite* good for such a small student game. If you like this type of game, you need to check this one out. It's short, it's creepy, it's free... and most importantly, it's GOOD.

It really was entertaining. I liked the tesion I feel by trying to make the creature not to see me and keeping the flame alive. Short game, good experience.
What could be a interesting stealthy puzzle platformer has been reduced to nothing but a rage game for me. The zombie Nun enemy seemingly see's you no matter what. Perhaps its a skill issue but regardless of how many different ways I tried to navigate one area, I died anyway. Not fun.

So gothic it turned my desk lamp into a candelabrum. Awesome idea, huge props!
My score: 8/10 ⭐TL;DR: a short but well crafted stealth horror where you play as a candle—great atmosphere, absolutely worth your time (especially since it’s free).
Overview
A delightful spooky experience with a few well-polished mechanics and a strong visual identity. You play as a candle, navigating a haunted gothic convent while avoiding
medieval demonic nuns (?!)
and managing your wax reserve. As you burn, you physically shrink—you know, like an actual candle would, just faster—so to survive you have to “bathe” in molten wax from other candles scattered around the map. It’s a very clever and visually satisfying take on a time-limit mechanic.
One Thing I Loved / One Thing I Didn’t
✔️ Loved: The creativity in both design and concept. ✖️ Didn’t: I wish it had more replay value, achievements, or anything to keep me coming back.
Key Points
[*]
DIFFICULTY:
Not hard per se, but progression can be a bit tricky in a few spots. No combat. [*]
PRESENTATION:
Delightfully spooky and surprisingly polished. The main enemies are pure nightmare fuel. [*]
STORY:
There’s no dialogue or written text, so nothing ever interrupts the flow, but the world-building is more layered than it seems if you pay attention to the environment [*]
GAMEPLAY/GAMEPLAY LOOP:
A concise stealth experience. Think Little Nightmares or Inside, just much shorter. [*]
TECHNICAL POLISH:
A bit of jank here and there, but no real bugs. Fairly demanding, though—your PC fans will take off. [*]
MONEYxCONTENT VALUE:
Very short, but full of charm, atmosphere, and clear developer competence. Also, it’s free—so it’s an easy “YES!” from me.
