Reviews
I have just read through Google Translate an awesome review written in Chinese here (so far there are like just 4-5 reviews 2-lines long) that basically says that this game consists of three tasks and some random clicking while keeping the game on screen since hitting alt+tab ♥♥♥♥♥ up everything. Well, it's made in Unity.. And it's indie. Casual, very casual. Even if it costs virtually nothing, it's a very very poor clicker.. made by a single developer, with little effort and with an interface completely unfriendly to anyone. No help or tutorial is given in-game, so that you've got to figure out by yourself what you're supposed to do and read the whole store page. The backstory of the game sums up in two lines: some evil mage cursed your land, and you're trapped inside his castle or whatever. You've got to find five keys and escape. That's it. The whole game will take place in a single screen - really, look at the screenshots. No, there won't be animations, monsters anything. There will be a coin to click (of course, it's a clicker game) which will grant you resources. On the right side of the screen you'll see the few things you can open with the buttons on the left (by the way the game has only two keys: F1 mutes the 2-3 sound effects - there is NO soundtrack, just effects - and left mouse button for everything else). That means two things: shop and incursion. Shop will open on said right side the usual things you can buy by clicking and stocking up resources - increasing power of your army, increase max resources, buy workers that will generate resources (I mean, gold or anything is called simply "resource" through the whole game) automatically for you and generally enlarge your military force. The incursion button refers to simulated battles - you'll have under the dollar/button/coin image a simple minimalistic info screen telling you how many units you've got in your army - and you'll need a minimum of army (100 men) to compete in them, ranging from easy to hard. Upgrades can affect too the time and the difficulty of the incursion campagins - they will start like at 150, 300 and 450 seconds each to complete, and the timer as I said can be lowered through upgrades. After the timer ends, you won't see anything but a small text field (so no animations at all as I said) telling you how many resources and workers you gained and how many soldiers you lost. Through upgrades, clicking and incursion campagins the five keys will be eventually automatically achieved. As I said the game must be active on-screen, so you can't idle it even if you've got like 20000 workers doing the job for you. The game is so indie that something like a Twitter account of the developer will be always in the centre of the main window, but it's ok.. All in all, this game is extremely minimalistic and lacks of any kind of graphical animation - it is literally a single screen, nothing else, made up just by text. There are no explanations or tutorials, and you'll be supposed just to click on the gold/money sign forever, buy upgrades, buy workers, buy armies, do long campaigns (that consist just of a timer running down) and getting automatically those damned five keys. Finally, after completing all the tasks (that are never explained in game - as I said, the keys will be automatically unlocked after buying tons of units or doing like twenty incursion campaigns and so on), you'll get those keys and you'll be able to break the spell, i.e. end the game with some text as it started. Games like these make always me think about my Commodore 64 days. Anyways, this thing is a mess. It's extremely minimalistic, based only on a single window with nothing but lines of text and there are no sprites, animation, not even a soundtrack or a tutorial - nothing, literally. You'll just keep on clicking, upgrading your army, getting more workers and soldiers and so on until you get annoyed and bored and close everything down for good. One of the worst indie games here, to avoid even for clicker lovers. I warned you xD
Avoid At All Costs
This is just a simplistic clicker game with little to nothing to offer. I bought this for less than ten cents and I still feel disappointed. You have to have the window in focus in order for the application to idle, so good luck doing anything in the background. There isn't even any music or background noise. The main problem that I have with this game is the progression. Unlike most idle games, the beginning is the longest and most tedious part of this game. You're good once you get quite a bit of wizards and upgrade them along with the capacity, but that's mid-late game. You'll have to end up dealing with workers that don't do jack because their output makes them worthless when they only make 2 gold per second, but cost 20000+ gold. Also the only way to get soldiers is to trade in 10 workers, and the only way to get archers is to trade in 2 soldiers. This is terrible because soldiers and archers are extremely likely to die in an incursion, so it's honestly better to just save for the wizards because they rarely die and their upgrades are simple and can be outright purchased instead of traded in. The lore/story is a joke and the ending is a real gut punch because it basically explains that everything you have done is useless and pointless and it's a lame excuse for a hard reset. This makes the story pointless because it's essentially 2 screens of text that don't really explain much at all. The only possible reason that I could see that you would want this game is that the achievements are pretty easy to obtain, but that's a pretty bad reason. To the Dev: There was an update a few months ago that fixed the issue where incursions crash Steam, but I had an issue where the frames kept dipping, then suddenly Steam crashed. I'm not sure what happened, but it crashed the game and Steam as well.
Clicker/idle game that you must keep the window on focus for it to work, if you alt+tab it pauses. NOT RECOMMENDED
