Squeeze a bunch of fluffy, cute kitties into cardboard boxes in Fit My Cat. A puzzle game that consists of 96 levels of trying to fit an assortment of cute and colourful cats into a cardboard box frame. You start off with simple shapes where some cats fill out only one tile, some three and some four. But as you progress elements are added into the box to make fitting your cats more challenging, elements such as cat toys and play structures.
Gameplay & Features
This game does not support widescreen. If you wish to put your game into windowed mode, put -screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080 (or a resolution of your choice) under properties in the games Steam library page under launch options and relaunch the game. Then just hit alt+enter to resize. The mapping in this game for the controller is very poorly done. Using a controller (Xbox for me) to move pieces in-game you use L to move, A to select a piece/place piece and RB to rotate. You will get used to the layout but it took me a bit to get the flow down. The mouse is supported sort of and you can move pieces and rotate them but you cannot see your cursor so to grab between cats (especially when puzzles get harder and there are many more pieces to place) it ends up being a guessing game to line your cursor up with where the next cat piece is. I ended up going back to the controller. I did not see any way to remap the keys. Upon reading up on this game (before Steam it was available on other platforms). The main criticisms of it were the controls as well. It seems they did not address that issue before porting it to PC. There is no timer so you can enjoy taking your time and no penalties for incorrectly solving the puzzles. The art style is adorable. Cute, floofy cats with huge eyes done in a 2D hand-drawn style.
Overall Experience
The controls, if anything, are what hold back this game from being fully relaxing and enjoyable. You can get used to them eventually but in the beginning it does feel very janky. I would stick with a controller over your mouse. I was going to recommend this game even with the controls being janky but this is what changed my mind. I got to level 84 out of 96 levels and turned off the game for a break. When I logged back in I was RESET to level 30. That sealed the deal for me. Over 50 levels of progress were lost. Save yourself the frustration and pass on this one. I'm a fan of the small RedDeer team and the games they bring us, but I have to be honest and say they've dropped the ball with this one. This really is a shame since I like these fit-in-grid-base puzzle games. Given that this one is a bit more expensive than others on Steam, I expected more, quantity—and quality-wise. At least it's nothing they can't fix or polish, and I genuinely hope they do since its few stupid flaws now making it more frustrating than enjoyable. For me, these flaws were: * I didn't particularly appreciate how it worked with a controller, so I switched to my mouse instead. I was confused when I didn't see my little mouse pointer but saw cats highlight a little. It turns out that if you unplug your controller, you can see your mouse pointer. * Sometimes if I put one floof in the grid, a floof close by flopped back out. Like why? * It could have been clearer how many grid spaces some floofs took. It felt like it needed to be more appropriately fitting visually. * If you don't want to try again and only pick one floof back out of the grid... it refused to be set back outside. It sometimes would after stubbornly trying multiple times, but ugh, this should have been an easy pickup and drop-down mechanic. So yes, even if it's visually adorable with bright and fun colours, it needs work. It's as simple as that. Come on, Red Deer. I know you can do it, and I know you have it in you. So show me so I can turn my downer into an upper thumb!
If you have played similar games, you know how this game should go. Visually its attractive, but the controls leave an awful LOT to be desired, even with a mouse! The game will also sometimes refuse to arrange the cats where you want them to go, even if you know they will fit, presumably because this is not the result the game's algorithm will accept. For the price, its very rough where it matters, which is in playing it, which is a pity as I have enjoyed other similar cat games that have played so smoothly out of the box. I would recommend leaving off purchasing this game for now, until the devs take notice of the complaints and do something about them. When this happens i will happily change my recommendation if the game is improved and easily playable. In the meantime, you have been warned!
I love to think that I'm packaging cats off to their new forever homes <3
this might be a decent game but (1) the controls are awful and (2) the first few levels are so easy even a toddler would get bored. Given how bad the controls are (cat don't move when they should or won't go into their destination on the grid) I was definitely not tempted to suffer thru more of the early levels to see if later levels ever got interesting. And to top if all off, when I came back later to give it one last try, all my progress had been lost! this feels like even the devs couldn't stand to play it enough to beta test it.
7/10 Tetramino with cats TLDR: "Tetramino" is like Tetris but where shapes don't fall down and instead you just place them to fill a rectangular area. Here there are shapes of 4, 5, 6 and even more pieces, and the rectangular area may have some tiles blocked. There are funny cat 'meow' sounds, pleasant music and cute cats. The game's main difficulty comes from lack of tile highlights (see below) which would probably be easy to add and make the game much friendlier. Good: + tetramino, pentamino, sextamino etc is a classic puzzle that would be most fun to kids maybe aged 8-12. The setting of funny cats is appropriate. Though as an adult, I enjoyed it, too. + funny "meow" sounds that seem to play randomly and just rarely enough to never get boring even after a long time playing + pleasant casual music + nice cats with some simple animations + 96 levels So-so: +/- the UI is strangely optimized for keyboards, and the buttons are sometimes hard to click with a mouse. Even the levels list is hard to navigate: you have to press Q or E keys, or click on the small buttons in the far corners of the screen. Instead the list should have been just draggable with a mouse. This game would obviously fit mobile phones, so I wonder why it doesn't use controls common for mobile where just a left click and left mouse drags would do everything Bad: - the main difficulty of the game comes not from the puzzles themselves but from unclear shapes of cats. Sometimes a cat's tail or head visually occupies something like 30% of a neighbor tile but that tile is still empty. Add to this small animations where the tail moves even more into a neighbor tile, and it gets all hard to see. Cats can even overlap each other slightly - yet tile-wise it's still fine. The simple fix here is a highlight of the tiles. I'd say, when you mouse over a cat, it should show an outline of the tiles this cat consists of. Also, when you move the cat over the board, the tiles that would be occupied by the dragged cat should get something like blue fills. And the already placed cat should show tile outlines e.g. in red so that you could clearly see which tiles are still free and which are already occupied - sometimes you just can't put a cat away from the board. You click a cat, drag outside the board - and it just gets put back on the board, yet in a different spot. In about 30% of cases the cat does land outside but in 70% it gets back to the board. I guess it's some bug that needs to be fixed

[th]I'm a Steam curator, you can follow me[/th]

I started playing the game the other night because I needed to unwind. Without realizing it, an hour had passed, and I was on level 41 (out of 100). It was very relaxing, and it hooked me. The controls are very simple, and the game provides a mini how to at the beginning. The background music can get repetitive, but it's not distracting enough to get unbearable. Art style is super cute, and you'll get little meows here and there while playing. Now, be aware that if you are a kitty's hooman, they may think the meows are from another nearby cat. You could use this moment for cute picture time. I know I did. I was really surprised when I noticed the game has 100 levels, especially when it starts getting a bit challenging at the 40 mark. I can't imagine the difficulty of those levels closer to 100! I'm not a full fan of the $9.99 USD pricing, but if I had to average it out, it's actually worth it for the amount of content, challenges and play time it provides. I'm only on level 44 now, so I'm pretty sure I may have an hour or 2 more to go, depending on how difficult it may get. The game also has plenty of DLC as well! There are 3 DLC packs, each $0.99 USD with 24 new levels each and a 4th DLC as a cosmetic that includes 3 Floors or backgrounds for the game board. I absolutely recommend it. It's fun and relaxing. Cute and adorable. The puzzles have a great difficulty progression and just enough of a challenge to not make me want to pull my hair out.
