Refund requested. It's a no for me, but there's a decent base game here. Love that it has a career mode. Takes me back to 12yso playing B.A.S.S masters on my SEGA Genesis, loved that game! But there seems to be too much focus on monetization and not on quality game play( Lets get a basic, barely functioning game out there, then crank out a crap load of DLC).
Firstly, the game locks FPS at 30. Sure its "fine" for slow underwater movement, but a choppy mess above water, it could be better(running an i9-10900K and a 3090). Its probably locked at such a low frame rate to hide terrible code inefficiencies that would break the game. Things like animating your baits(the "action" IRL fishing world) you'd think would be a basic standard, but nope, they're lifeless 3D models. Half of fishing is about bringing your lifeless artificial bait to life in order to trick the fish right? Then, your lifeless 3D model "bait" just runs through all the obstacles on the lake floor like they're not even there. Can't even walk around on your boat,..really? There are just so many immersion breaking flaws throughout the whole game play experience that could easily be fixed with some animating talent(probably the hardest part of game design, which is why its missing from this game). The list is looong. The devs need to go back to the drawing board for game mechanics and visuals, which is pathetic since they didn't have to do anything conceptually. I mean, its a fishing game. No real need to come up with original ideas. Just 3D modeling IRL stuff, ANIMATE, and some coding. This game uses the UR game engine, so I know this game can look, function, and play much better in 2021.
