First time in Hawaii is a cozy Hidden Object game (HOG). The story is nothing special, but the varied hidden object scenes, mini puzzles and gorgeous setting is sure to provide a few hours of relaxing fun for HOG enthusiasts. Pros

Varied HOG scenes
Bright charming art
Easy achievements
Unlimited mode
Includes trivia on Hawaii
Cons

The usual cliché story
Resolution is not optimisable and stays at 1920x1080 making zooming in slightly blurry for other resolutions.

Gameplay
First Time in Hawaii is the typical HOG-style game. It appears designed for touch screens and has those strange stories with unrealistic characters that I see in ads for apps on social media. I completely skipped the story, it seems pointless. However, the gameplay is exactly what I would expect from a HOG. It mixes up the traditional hidden object scenes and has many variations of them, including find the shape, match 2 items, jumbled letters or some missing letters and also some items requiring a bit more interaction before the desired item is revealed. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2946747523 There are also puzzles in between each section and I enjoyed how varied the game is. The puzzles are all rather simple but help to break up the monotony of finding hidden objects. Some puzzles include the classics such as untangle the rope, jigsaw puzzles, spot the difference or match 2. One puzzle type I did not like was one where there are small cubes at the bottom of the screen with cut outs from the image displayed above. Players must find where this cube came from in the image and click on that area. The cubes can not be enlarged and it can be hard to spot subtle differences. Fortunately, there is a forgiving hint system on lower difficulties to allow any tricky spots to be easily bypassed. There are fun facts scattered in the hidden object scenes that act as optional extras. Although I do not have a particular interest in the subject matter, I quite liked this addition and it is a good way to engage the brain and learn something new. The main story itself is quite long, revolving around morning/evening cycles for 14 days, with approximately 6 sections (either hidden object scenes or puzzles) in each day. There is also an unlimited mode with each puzzle type as well, with plenty of extra options after completing the main story. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2946450247 Bugs & Issues: The resolution is capped at 1920x1080. There is a drop down box beside it but it does not seem to let me change it to anything else, from the main menu or within the game. There are some other strange issues with the setting interface as well, for instance, you cannot make the game windowed while ingame. You have to exit to the main menu to alter it.
Conclusion
Overall, I found this quite a refreshing and modern take on the genre. Whilst the story is subpar, it is on point with others in the HOG scene. The backgrounds were pretty, and I liked the Hawaii trivia and setting. It has a large amount of content that manages to keep fresh, avoiding monotony with its mixture of differing hidden object scenes and many forms of puzzles. For HOG lovers, I would recommend it, but would wait for a sale. I was nervous about buying First Time in Hawaii as several reviews mentioned game breaking bugs. I found it to be a good Hidden Object Game though and was able to complete it with 100% achievements.
Casual hidden object game with interactive elements, puzzles and mini games. Travel to Hawaii and help your friend get ready for her wedding. Gameplay: https://youtu.be/u7QhC294G3w There are colorful, detailed search scenes. You need to find objects by names, shadow images, written words without vowels, find pairs without specifying names, etc. Scenes are placed on the screen. To see small objects, you can enlarge any part of the image and move it to the side. If you have any difficulties, you can use the hint. Each scene has interactive elements that require you to connect certain objects or solve a puzzle. If you replay scenes, the list of items changes. You can play with the whole family. Here you can create a separate profile for each player and select a difficulty level. + Beautiful detailed graphics and pleasant music. + Interactive elements and interesting riddles. + Replay value. + 30 different mini-games. + 4 difficulty levels. + There are tips. + Unlimited mode. + Interesting facts about Hawaii. + Wallpapers and soundtracks. + Achievements. Unfortunately the game does no longer start an second time. You only get a black screen and is unplayable. Such a pity, I was really looking forward to this game. I already own the first installment and so enjoyed it. There is nothing left but to ask steam for an refund.
Has bugs that prevent finishing the game and getting all achievements.
There is a market for hidden object / puzzle games held together with a twee story (quiet there at the back, you!) so long as they are chill, lazy, fuss-free and work properly. This one has many levels and quite a long playtime, the puzzles are ok as are the graphics and premise, for the target audience. It has several modes and decent replayability. But it commits a cardinal sin of having a game-breaking bug towards the end where a required object cannot be clicked, meaning the game cannot be finished and two achievements cannot be unlocked. If this ever gets fixed (it wont) I will update the review to positive. This was my first time in Hawaii and it sucked, time for me to head back to my happy place, Chingford.
Seit dem letzten Update am 06.03.2023 startet das Spiel nicht mehr, sondern zeigt nur noch einen schwarzen Bildschirm. Damit ist es unspielbar geworden. Schade.
Game can get stuck in the Observatory HOG on the Biohazard symbol, might only happen if the cats are present. Biohazard symbol is not visible. Hint shows where it should be & Super Hint highlights the spot, but clicking there does nothing. Unable to progress in the Bonus story when this happens.
Muy decepcionante, como comentan otras personas aquí, la segunda vez que juegas pantalla negra, no importa que lo intentes varias veces, el resultado es el mismo.
