The Armchair Historian brings you a new turn-based strategy game set in the Victorian Era. As muskets become rifles and infantry is confronted by modernizing artillery, it is imperative to adapt to a rapidly changing battlefield. This is a new age, not of courage and chivalry, but of Blood and Iron.

this game has grate potential , but it full of bugs, several time I Completed a battle and the game just stays there, not letting you out. half the time you don't understand why you can or cant do an action because the UI is lacking, you don't understand why the game doesn't let you fire at an enemy that is right there in front of your units. and the tutorial is insufficient, I don't want to watch a bunch of you-tube videos to play a game. Ii wanted to like this game, but it just half baked and needs farther development to be playable.
Buggy, undercooked, and hasn't had a patch since 2023. A number of game-breaking and/or frustrating bugs are constant dangers, including being unable to win a battle after killing every enemy unit and supply caches being registered to the wrong side in campaigns. A far larger number of UI bugs: some text boxes stick on screen when they're supposed to close, segments of individual units are highlighted as enemies, shooting highlights your own units as target options (although doesn't actually select them if you click). You cannot mouse over the traits a unit has when it is selected, unit order tracker bubbles are often wrong, etc. A huge number of undercooked features: Orders are a resource used to control units; you will almost never need to worry about them being scarce, however. A huge portion of mechanics lack tooltips or should have more information (such as hotkeys) in the tooltips, or the tooltips don't always work in a few spots. If you misclick, usually you need to go all the way back to the main menu and hope you saved recently, or permanently lose unit recruitment timers/political support/accept incorrect orders. These are rarely fatal (the AI is reasonably good at moving, but not at shooting), but they're so omnipresent that you basically just have to slog through it. I had to google the ranges on the different rifles, because the game doesn't seem to tell you anywhere.

concept wise is a good game and its fun, it has strong potential, but it is incomplete, the developers of the game are clearly not experienced with strategy or turnbased games, focusing more on the graphics rather than utility in playbility. for example beign able to check your units stats in the campgain map, or to check how much return you will get from expanding your objectives in cities, to having a basic undo button. to be able to visualy understand if you are connected to the hq even if your supplies shown green. or even the sound i usually remove the sound all together and in this game if you reduce the sound to zero you still hear background wind sound like how amaturish and how slowly does the campgain map move with awsd, and no way to manualy change it in the settings. all this are minor for sure, but it clearly shows you the developers have either no experience with these types of games or they just dont play there own game. using the ui both in campgain and in the battle feels very unatural and i would say i am a veteran of strategy turnbased games with thousands of hours in games like hoi4, panzer corp2 unity of command and many more. i am rating it positivly because i beleive in its potential

A game that needs 5 minutes to start then only shows a starting screen for another 5... is not a game. It's at best an image viewer. Or simply fraudulent devs. Don't buy this. Don't even accept it for free. It will only steal 10 minutes of your life.
It's good. Tip: If you want to change game settings such as Round Timer for Quickplay VS AI, then you have to open custom battle and change the settings there, then exit back to the menu. The settings from custom battle will carry over to Quickplay.
Great game with good mechanics :)
