Final War: Frozen Defense is a free strategy game that mixes tower defense with a much bigger world map and real time battles. I start by defending castles from waves of demons, but pretty quickly I am also dealing with territory, roads, resources, heroes and army management. I like the basic idea because it gives me more to think about than simply placing towers and watching enemies walk towards the base. The world map adds another layer where I can expand my territory and decide how I want to build around the areas I control. The tower defense itself is probably the part I enjoy most. I can place different towers and use heroes alongside them, while road cards let me control the route enemies take towards my castle. That is a genuinely useful idea because I can make enemies spend longer inside the range of my defenses instead of simply stacking towers wherever there is space. I also get to move and control heroes during battles, so there is a little more going on than just watching my towers do everything automatically. When I set up the path properly and my defenses start working together, the battles can be quite satisfying. The world map is where the game becomes much more like a mobile strategy game. I can expand into new areas, collect resources and fight real time battles while taking advantage of different terrain. There are also alliances and a much larger progression system built around strengthening my territory and armies. I like having something outside the tower defense levels because it gives me a reason to keep upgrading rather than treating each castle as a completely separate challenge. New heroes and equipment also keep being added, so there is a lot of progression to work through. At the same time, this is where I start seeing some of the game's problems. There are a lot of systems competing for my attention, and it can take a while before I understand what I should actually be focusing on. The game has monthly cards, activity packs and a large selection of paid bundles, alongside the normal free progression. I can play without spending money, but the whole structure feels very much like a game designed around long term spending and keeping me coming back regularly. That makes the strategy feel less clean than it could have been because I am not only thinking about the battlefield. I also think the actual tower defense could use more variety. The road system and hero control are good ideas, but the basic goal is still to keep enemies away from the castle and destroy them before they get through. Once I understand the main tricks, a lot of the stages start feeling familiar. The world map gives me more things to do, but it also means I spend a lot of time managing upgrades and resources rather than actually making interesting tactical decisions. I enjoy the scale, but I would have preferred a little more depth in the individual battles. The constant updates are at least encouraging because the game is still being developed. New heroes, equipment, tower features and higher level content have been added over time, and there are systems such as auto attack and auto jungle that reduce some of the more repetitive tasks. I like having those options because managing a big strategy game can become tiring when every small activity needs to be done manually. The downside is that the game can sometimes feel like I am managing a collection of timers and upgrades rather than sitting down for a focused strategy session. Overall, Final War: Frozen Defense is a decent strategy game with some genuinely good ideas buried inside a very busy free to play structure. I like the way towers, heroes and road placement work together, and the world map gives me much more to do than a normal tower defense game. The large amount of progression and constant stream of upgrades can be enjoyable, but the heavy focus on currencies, purchases and long term management takes away some of the simplicity I want from a strategy game. I think there is enough here to keep me interested for a while, but it does not quite have the depth or polish to reach the higher end of my ratings. Rating: 7.3/10

pay to win
! ENORME PAY TO WIN ! ! ENORME PAY TO WIN !
