Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

About
A plethora of powerful swordplay techniques and Eikonic abilities lie within Clive's remit—and it is up to you to decide which ones you wish to learn or upgrade. If you're having trouble choosing, upgrades can be unlocked automatically.
Story-focused mode is recommended for those players who are less comfortable with action games and wish to focus more on the game's story elements. In this mode, Clive will automatically evade some attacks, and epic Eikonic combos can be triggered with simple button presses. Action-focused mode, where Clive's every action is controlled by the player, is available for those who are confident in their skill—or want to test it.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 2: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Fun game....but make sure you have the right settings for your rig or the game play and framerate can be choppy which kept me from fully appreciating the game at first.
Pleasantly surprised at how fun it was, despite not being a turn-based game. Works great on Linux with Proton GE 11-5.
Short answer: Play the demo first and if you like the demo then you'll probably like the game. Just do the proper research into your rig and see if you can actually run it the way that you want it to be. Though I do not recommend this to be your first Final Fantasy. (Do ff10 or ff4 maybe even ff7 first) Performance: In my specs I managed 60fps on performance with the settings on low during dungeons and boss fights while out in more open areas such as the bigger hub sections or the semi open world I see around 30-40fps. It can have better optimization which I hope they update for a more detailed graphic settings but other than that I have experienced no crashes thus far. long answer, As a lifelong Final Fantasy fan I recommend this game without a doubt even if it will rub on the wrong way for the long term fans, and is understandable as this is an even bigger departure of gameplay compared to the originals but I do suggest to give it a chance. Final Fantasy is known for being an anthology, and with this change of formula for the gameplay I see it compliments the story perfectly as this is a different Final Fantasy for a different time. The recent success of Clair Obscur proves that their is a market for high quality turn-based games with excellent story and I can attest to that as I have dropped just over 70 hours on it. I mentioned this because even when a shining example such as that as that shows us a good high quality turn base action adventure game today, and how it seemingly is more Final Fantasy than well Final Fantasy 16 I will still recommend this in a heartbeat. What makes a Final Fantasy game Final Fantasy? Is it the the decades of perfected gameplay? or Is it the breathtaking stories that we will remember forever? For me it is the sincerity of the game, whether it was Tidus and Yuna laughing or Kayn betraying us like a billion times Final Fantasy is all of those corny moments. Yes we have grand stories where we fight gods and this game has lots of that (I can almost say this games does boss fights better as it is a more engaging and cinematic way to experience it.) those grand moments will not be without sincerity. This game has alot of heart and passion and it should get more credit for what it brings to the franchise this will go down as one of my favorite Final Fantasy games as this hits hard for person like me who has played all the Devil may cry games aswell as the Byoneta games. That being said this is still a Final Fantasy game without a doubt. Conclusion: Final Fantasy is a voice of a generation, I believe that no matter what, we will always look back at the main line games with certain tinted glasses and nothing is wrong with that. This game is flawed but genuine, it is equal parts a tribute and a step back for Final Fantasy. It has such a unique voice that should be experienced.
Good game overall, but has some glaring issues. TLDR: install the Sprint Button mod and 1.5x Sprint Speed mod on Nexusmods, even if (ESPECIALLY if) it's your first playthrough. Trust me. Also, once you get into the final ~35% of the game, be prepared to gradually become more and more let down as you get closer to the end. FFXVI is a game that starts off INCREDIBLY strong, and stays that way for the first 65% of the game (and it is a LONG game, so that much alone is worth the buy). Incredible story, a comeplling main cast, a combat system that is extremely satisfying to master (though it is wholly unnecessary to go that far with it in a regular playthrough, almost to a fault, unless you go to NG+), and an INSANELY strong score by the GOAT, Soken, to accompany the hype moments you get in combat and boss fights. The most memorable aspect of the game is its boss fights + accompanying music, 1000%. The music hitting at just the right moment in boss fights made my soul leave my body (this happens a lot, there is apparently a system at play to loosely sync certain moments in fights with the music, much like Metal Gear Rising), and I will remember a lot of these tracks and the associated fight(s) for a very long time. Unfortunately, the positives end there, though don't let the comparative length of the "good" vs "bad" sections of this review fool you! I wholeheartedly believe that the game is worth buying and playing just based off the above, it's just that I have to give a bit more context/explain certain systems when providing criticism, while for the good aspects of the game the best I can sell it is "it's Peak, your honor." Some of the cracks only really start to show in the last ~35% of the game (mostly story/pacing issues), which I'll cover later, so the first ~65% is mostly just Peak. For negatives that persist or come and go throughout the entire duration of the game, they include: - Weak RPG mechanics: On the equipment side of things, you get your standard equipment system and 3 accessory slots. Unfortunately, the standard equipment follows a very linear upgrade path, they never have unique effects that you have to choose between (or any unique effects at all...). Accessories are similarly dire, in that most of them are things like "Increases X ability damage/cooldown by 6%" (yes the amounts are that pitifully small usually). The game really needed weapons/armors/belts with unique effects and possibly upgrade branches, maybe not as in-depth as the Materia system in 7, but SOMETHING would've been nice. As it is currently, you will never ever have to choose between two different pieces, aside from tiny stuff like "this belt gives me +1 defense but I lose 10 health". You also get your standard EXP levelling system which certainly... exists... and also ability points to enhance your Eikonic abilities, which is where the meat of the combat system is. Planning and putting together a build that works is very satisfying, but the rate at which you get there in a regular NG playthrough is agonisingly slow. You don't get enough AP to Master an ultimate ability until, like, 40% of the way through the game. They're meant to be expensive of course, being able to reassign the ultimate attack of an Eikon to any other Eikonic slot is a big deal, but the whole thing is at least 50% too slow for most regular playthroughs. - TERRIBLE optimisation: It's not as big a deal these days as most people probably have setups powerful enough to at least run the game well on low settings, but this was a MASSIVE issue at launch, and the game received a total of THREE patches post-release, which improved the performance somewhat, but not substantially. Even if you have the most powerful rig possible at the time of writing this review, you'll still get the occasional stutter and probably drop to ~50FPS in certain areas (on high-ultra settings). - Terrible, pointless open world: The open world maps in this game are kind of a joke. They are extremely large, but they're mostly empty except for having small groups of enemies everywhere to slow you down when travelling on foot, and mockeries of pickups scattered in corners (like going on a detour to get a shiny and it's 10 gil or 20 sharp fangs...). This is not the biggest sin, but what IS the biggest sin is making your overworld movement speed RIDICULOUSLY SLOW on top of a nothing-burger open world. Seriously, there's a system that makes your combat dashes/lunges have a ridiculous 4s recovery animation where you stand completely still, ONLY if you try to cast it while not in combat. Why??? You also only get your chocobo about 25-30% of the way into the game, and even then, your chocobo's sprint speed is weirdly slow... - Terrible sidequests: Some of the sidequests are good, mostly the ones that expand on the state of the world and the ones that revolve around one of Clive's companions (shoutout to my main man Gav). Outside of that, most of the time, they are incredibly, mind-bogglingly boring. Sidequest tasks boil down to "go talk to this guy, go kill that thing, go talk to that guy". Also, there is an unskippable ~6s of the game displaying the quest name on screen whenever you start AND turn in a quest. Not the end of the world on first playthrough, but annoying in NG+. Why is it unskippable...? Once you pass the ~65% mark of the story, the game goes from a 9/10 (or even 10/10 at points) to like a 5/10 (6.5/10 if you get the sprint mods I mentioned!). The game starts feeling padded out, you do a lot of backtracking and "go talk to this guy and kill this thing" tasks as part of the main quest, you're mostly fighting reskinned stronger versions of the same enemies you've been fighting all game, some cutscenes and story beats feel rushed, and don't even get me started on the final fight ass pull + unsatisfying and open-ended ending (open-ended ending is NOT intrinsically a bad thing, but this is open-ended in an extremely unsatisfying manner, and after having spent ~80 hours with these characters and all the horrible ♥♥♥♥ they had to go through, I just want to see THEM happy, man), which goes down to a 3/10 for me... The DLCs are... fine... One boils down to just an extended dungeon with unique equipment, but a almost non-existent story with a pretty great boss fight at the end, the other boils down to a new overworld area (oh no) with its own generic sidequests (Oh No), but with a surprisingly engaging story, a few new Eikonic abilities, and a BANGING boss track at the end (and also some bonus arcade-y modes if you're into that). I recommend the latter DLC over the first, but the former is also serviceable, imo. Both DLCs however have 0 impact on the main story, which is a shame. Feels like a missed opportunity to not have even any acknowledgement in the final fight/ending dialogue for if you've done the DLCs, especially given that the latter DLC gives you something big that SHOULD be plot-relevant. Do be warned that you also only unlock access to the DLCs on the literal final story quest (and even then it's locked behind a couple sidequests that you also only unlock 1 MSQ away from the ending), they have literally ZERO impact on the game before that point, so you could hold off on purchasing the DLC until you've played the game and are nearing that point (or whenever a sale comes around)! Overall, uhhhh... read the review. Otherwise, TLDR Is at the top, dummy!
