playtime doesn't reflect true game time because steam only counts the time you're in the launcher as play hours this is literally the best mmorpg to ever exist

PLEASE look up a guide on how to install the game. Also register your account and subscribe (steam gives a 30 day free trial with the game) before you actually install the PlayOnline launcher. If you install the launcher and set up your account on there first then it bricks the launcher and you can't install the game. If you get that then reinstall the launcher

The signup process and getting an activated account for this game is absolute dogwater. The fact there are 15 minute YT videos trying to explain the sign up process for a game made by one of the largest game makers in the world is asinine, requesting a refund. I thought FFXIV account management was bad, but this just isn't worth the trouble.

you can play this game permanently for free now. Don't buy it on steam

I knew I shouldn't have tried to play this game again. Same problems as when I was a kid. Not sure How I fiugred them out. The account creation is so confusing. Now I cant get in.... whatever

Installation: HORRIBLE. AWFUL. Please watch a guide on how to install & register this awful system the game is actually good. Gameplay: Actually a fun game. And it has a very active community.

one of the longest runnning mmorpgs of all time (atleast top 10 i think) and quite possibly one of the best mmorpg experiences available as of 05/2026. i've spent years playing on unofficial servers but the retail experience is amazing, even better imo. just watched a video today that the devs are surprised at how the playerbase has been keeping steady in this era and they are working on plans for even more future updates. soon they will expand the f2p to not be limited by time i am quite curious and looking forward to how they do that. there is no better time than now to get in and experience the game and story of FFXI especially when the bundle is on sale

great game, awesome community, runs great on almost all hardware, the only cons i truly have for this game is the lack of a combined sub with ff14, and the limit break quests are an annoyance when i just want to chill and level my character instead of going on some grand world spanning easter egg hunt in an effort to not waste time and xp every 5 levels after lvl 50.
