Fun game from a free-software supporter. Each level is a puzzle to figure out with a combination of stealth and exploration. I like how the predictable enemies can be seen through a minimap or on-screen. Lots of bonus objectives for each level, which will get you completing them again and again. I was not a fan of the sound effects, but this is the type of game that you listen to a podcast while exploring the level. I enjoyed this game on an ubuntu linux desktop with radeon mesa graphic driver. The game uses a specially designed game engine, and it takes up a mere 50 MBs of diskspace. I recommend this game for anyone looking for a casual puzzle experience with stealth elements.
Dynamite Jack: A Sneaky, Puzzle-Driven Bomberman

Dynamite Jack is a fun little indie title that’s over a decade old. Don’t be fooled by its simple premise and visuals - it looks very basic at first glance, but quickly pulls you into its clever top-down stealth gameplay, proving that a game doesn’t need flashy presentation to be genuinely engaging. The core idea is straightforward: sneak around, avoid guards, and solve puzzles. The twist comes from how light works. Torches help you see in the dark, but also make you easier to spot, so you’re constantly balancing visibility and stealth. The sound design complements this well - subtle audio cues and enemy reactions help you stay aware, especially when playing cautiously. Levels are short and quick to play, but the real fun kicks in when you try to fully complete them by going after all level-specific challenges and achievements, which adds a surprising amount of depth and replay value. Highlights

Using torches smartly to manage light and shadows
Colour-coded puzzle blocks that unlock paths in neat ways
Taking out enemies Bomberman-style if you want a louder approach
Choosing your playstyle - careful pacifist runs or full chaos runs
It also has a level editor and community levels (though I haven’t tried them)
Verdict: 7/10 - It’s simple, tight, and surprisingly addictive. Easy to pick up, hard to put down once you start chasing perfect runs.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=661570714

Short version: Pros: + Enjoyable levels + Challenging + Minimalistic visuals + Fun mechanics + Custom maps Cons: - Rather repetitive - Some side challenges are very frustrating “Long” version: Dynamite Jack is a puzzle game where you play as a slave who must escape a heavily guarded mine. It was developed and published by Hassey Enterprises, Inc. The story is just a few still images and not much else. It is just a basic setup to get you into the levels. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2823114048 Gameplay is good. Movement and actions are rather basic, but there are a few extra mechanics that expands the gameplay, such as luring enemies with light and sound. Levels usually have you gather 3 pieces of data in order to open the exit. You must avoid guards, monsters, pitfalls and lasers in order to be successful and they all require different strategies to evade. You start each level with no items, only being able to move around. Usually, you will find a flashlight close to you; its main use is obvious as the mines tend to be pitch black, but you can also use it to lure guards to your location after setting up a trap. You can also place bombs, which have a large radius and kill everything around it – including the main character. You must time the detonations in order to maximize their effectiveness and it is satisfying to dispose of guards with a well-timed explosion. You can also have guards investigate said explosions – so they act as bait too! Dynamite Jack features 28 levels in total, but each level has 3 challenges to complete. Now, these usually cannot be completed in a single attempt (killing everyone and not killing anyone, for example), which can be rather annoying – some of the levels take a while to complete so having to replay them over and over to avoid killing enemies, for example, is mildly bothersome. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2581341096 The gameplay loop is also too repetitive – you barely get introduced to new mechanics and it quickly grows stale. It took me a few weeks to finish it – not because it was hard, or took too long, but because I got bored after a level or two. You can finish the whole thing (achievements included) in 5-6 hours but it certainly feels longer. There are also custom maps, which are a nice addition, if you care for that sort of thing. Graphically, Dynamite Jack features a very simple, yet distinct art style. Is the art style mind-blowing? No, but it is solid. Sound is on the average side – nothing stands out in particular. The soundtrack is your typical, generic futuristic mix. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2823114027 I feel like Dynamite Jack is worth trying if you get your hands on it during a sale or it is included in a bundle. The current asking price of 10€ is way too much for what you get – even a 75% off deal would make me question whether or not it is worth it. A decent enough game. Final score: 7 out of 10. An out-of-the-box indie concept, somewhat reminds me of Top-down shooter version of Wolfenstein 3D back from 90's but is lot cooler than that. The game has 28 levels with difficulty increasing progressively as you move above. Turns out that our brave former space marine hero is upto lot of struggle for the darling freedom, that every prisoned person yearns for. This prison escape game is going to be lot challenging than you think yet interesting. Each level is an archemenide mine and one step closer to your escape and a step up in difficulty setting. You will have to pick a torchlight to make it possible to light through your route, a detonator , to explode through brick walls and kill guards (basically your only weapon in game), and keys to pass through the doors. Once you fall in vision of guards, start over. See for yourself, can't you just get that feel of grabbing the game , the way I described it. I mean, why do every other reviewer has to keep the review lengthy and difficult to follow, unlike my "Keep-it-simple" approach dude. Get this game and help our brave space marine fighter escape this gruesomely dark and torture struck prison, For the man who fought for our country, its absolutely worth it.
Dynamite Jack (2012) I literally have no memory of how I got this game - I know I didn't buy it, I don't know if I received a key from a friend, if it was from a game bundle or if it was free and I added it to the account. I just saw it and decided one day to play it. Either way, the game is pretty neat. It's basically a bomber stealth type of game where you need to complete levels and you are only armed with bombs for the job. Its well worth a play, no matter how you received the game. 7/10
Joguinho legal. Principalmente por ser rápido de zerar. Vale a pena para gamers casuais
It just isn't fun. I don't really have much else to say. I find nothing redeeming in it.
I received this game through a humble bundle - so right off the bat I have to say that perhaps I wasn't the target audience. I think my biggest gripe with this game is that it simply wasn't fun. While all the individual components of a game were there - a goal, enemies, weapons, a protagonist, locked doors, gems, etc - they all came together in what I consider a relatively lack luster game. Overall the game played flawlessly - I don't think I encountered a single bug the entire time I played it - the experience in my opinion was somewhat lacking.
Унылая дрочка. Самое интересное тут было в истории, до того как начинается игра.
The usual stealth puzzle. Boring.
