Fun game to play with friends if you got time to spend and just want to relax unless you're someone who doesn't really enjoy sitting and reading. But if you're someone who's into narrative games where you build up your character this is indeed for you and you're friend althought it's better playing with friends and most enjoyable you can also play alone instead to gain tokens throughout the game to unlock hints of the story and how to win. But i do have one downside to the game and probably something that turns me away is that the stories are quite reptitve sadly even with the workshop not alot changes sadly and some stories are sadly too long for a game that you just want to relax and screw around. Great game just not enough content but for 5 dollars pretty worth.
Quite a long and wordy bord came. Delightfully dark and packed to the brim with Lovecraftian lore. So many stories and endings to explore through, as you lose your sanity to horrors and elder gods. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udMcZFWeL-w
It's The Yawhg with a Lovecraft skin and more transparent mechanics. It's great.
After playing a few rounds of the game with friends I'm happy to recommend it to any who like this kind of pick your own adventure kind of game.
You are a cultist and you try to prepare for the big ritual that will end the world! … only, things don’t go as planned. Sometimes. The game pokes fun at everything Lovecraft, and if you know your lore a little bit, the events may be even more hilarious. Which cultist hasn’t had the problem to try to hold in a fart during the ceremony? Organize a bake-sale at the Church of Starry Wisdom! Get gifted a monkey-paw and reap the consequences! The game is even funnier if you play it with friends. The rules may be hard to get during the first run, but luckily the game is meant to be played multiple times, because you gather more Elder Signs to spend on insight into the various rituals you are trying to perform. A toast to the end of the world! Yeah, I still remember that I accidentally burned down the Witch’s Hut, so that it was unaccessible for the rest of the game. Sorry! :( P.S.: As I have played this game at a friend's, I have zero hours shown, also due to offline play.
Very funny game. It mixes the good satirical humour genre with the lovecraftian universe with a tabletop feeling. The new expansion (free btw) puts another level of diffi-cult (pun intended), bringing a cult willing to wake up the All-Mother (Shub-Niggurath to the intimates) to wreak havoc (sorry, another pun) over the world. If you like all, some or none of these themes, this is a game for you!
When I bought this game, I wasn't expecting much. Thing is, even if I had had high expectations, they would have been thoroughly met. It make take you 45ish min to an hour to understand how the endings and "skills/traits" work, but once you do, it is much easier to plan your run. The artwork is great, and the dialogues are not only flawless in terms of having no typos or bad grammar, but are also very wittty and fun. I've found myself imagining what my character would look like, as the writing described my martial arts mastery in a fight to the death. The recent expansion, free, mind you, adds TONS of content. I could not recommend this game more. Excellent! I hope the creative minds behind it enjoy fruitful careers in the creative arts. Thank you again!
In a creeping world of madness, you are the king.
Good theme, graphics are good, I just wish it were a bit deeper.
I really like this game. Admittedly at first it seemed pretty confusing, but I came back to it read the rules and started to have fun. It has mods also which surely will extend gameplay.
