Reviews
best game ever made (source: me)
awesome
Excellent
You love video game jank, or you don't. It was jank when it came out and it feels even more jank now But I don't think what makes a video game good is simply how smooth it plays, rather how engaging it is to work around a game's set systems to progress. fo3's combat IS clunky, yet there is a lot of strategy that can make it work for you rather than against you. I appreciate that it doesnt cater to my FPS instincts and makes me think differently. I find the dated graphics hold up pretty well. It's the most visibly destroyed wasteland of modern fallout in my opinion, it's a very ugly game with barely any color and nearly every inch of the wasteland has been hit by bombs and reduced to rubble. At that point theres no need to render anything very detailed and the fact that it all looks like crap actually heightens the gritty wasteland atmosphere. The gore hasn't aged though and still looks spectacular today, and the bloody mess perk at times makes the game feel like FEAR. The story, graphics and gunplay might all be subpar by today's standards. But there's something undeniably dark and hardcore about 3 AND New Vegas, that is somewhat lost in 4 and 76. It's hard to believe this game is almost 20 years old but it can still be as immersive today as it was back then.
