I didn't enjoy all 20 minutes of content
Fallen Stars is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise (in this case a competition), and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. This student project is a basic VR tech demo crunched out in 3 months because you, the gamer, apparently don't deserve games that have a fully fleshed out delivery pipeline. Yeah, amazing, the students could push out a game in 3 months instead of taking the required time to do the job properly, but why is that good for you, the gamer? Sure, it may be possible, heck, I could drive my car using only my feet, and it's going to end in disaster. Just because something might be done, doesn't mean it should, and the primary focus for every game developer should be delivering value to gamers, through quality in design and implementation. Not rushing VR tech demos out in 3 months to try win a competition then dumping the result on Steam Direct for $100. The students put you guys last. This is never okay. Enough ranting, but I think that was important to explain why this might even look like a decent game but it isn't. Because it was rushed out. About the game. You play an astronaut in VR who was transported back in time and decide that now that time travel is real, you should probably do someone else's job on a 1970's era space station. Ok so the game concept is as good as the premise here: Not to make a game for gamers, but to try win a contest. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
