I love cake
Good retro gameplay with tight platforming and satisfying level design. It captures that classic 8-bit feel while adding modern quality-of-life improvements. A solid indie platformer.

All in all, a highly recommended platformer with great music and graphics! I just felt that the enemy placement was a bit unfortunate in some spots, leading to some pretty frustrating moments at times. I do like the quality-of-life features, though, which let you, for example, disable certain characters so they don’t appear in the quick-select menu. This makes it easy to plan out every level and section.

You go treasure hunting and then release an ancient evil that wants to destroy the world and now you have to go save the world. If I had a nickel for every time I heard that plot before. Only this time it's because an old man in a wizard hat makes you do his dirty work because he hates responsibility. Which leads to searching all over the land finding chests that contain random junk for whatever reason. Nonsense plot aside, this is a fun retro platformer with good style and creativity. The character swapping mechanic is neat and its very impressive with the variety of characters you can go into levels with; handling any kind of play style or getting around certain obstacles. It has a lot to offer and it holds itself quite well.
Great game and a nice throwback to NES games from back in my day
It’s really hard to recommend this game. It plays like a very tight Mega Man–style game. It has all the elements I usually love: amazing pixel art, responsive controls, lovable characters, fun towns, mini-games, and a ton of collectibles. Unfortunately, more content doesn’t necessarily make the experience better. Each world contains over 20 stages plus multiple towns, and almost all of them follow the exact same formula. Most stages can be cleared in just 2–5 minutes, which makes the repetition set in quickly. There are 10 playable characters, but while a few offer slight gameplay differences, there’s too much overlap for them to feel equally viable. You can easily finish the game using the default characters the game gives you. I would have much preferred a version of the game with fewer stages, characters, NPCs, and items, but with a deeper focus on refining those ideas and experimenting more with those.
Pretty great retro-style side-scroller packed with content and secrets. It wears its Shovel Knight inspiration on its sleeve, and it does a great job pulling all the best parts about that game into this. Lots of characters lend towards different styles of gameplay, secrets hidden in the stages keeps your eyes peeled, and a great soundtrack keeps you moving. This is a strong recommendation for anyone a fan of this genre.
