A short Jumpscare experience, based on a demon encounter in a haunted cathedral. Great for first-time VR users, especially family and friends or for those who enjoy a dark mood and ambiance.

Okay, well, this is yet another case of "I wish there was a neutral rating", but in the interest of public knowledge I rate it anyway. First, as much as I have reasons for wanting to give it a thumbs down, I have to concede that there is some genuinely good work in this. The artistic take, the sound, models, etc. all work well together. But before you read that and see that they WERE open and honest about this being a "short" experience I have to say they MEAN it. For what good art and sound work there was, you don't get to spend enough time with it to even really take it all in. It's also not even the kind of content that is at least tantalizing good as a lead-in for something to come. It simply is what it is. Period. So the brutal truth - As short as you think it's going to be based on what you read in their description, take that, chop it in half and you might be in the ball park. As far as I can tell, it also has ZERO alternative experiences/paths. Once you've seen it you might as well uninstall it until you have a need to break it to try and scare someone. Was it scary? Well, I'm a huge fan of the genre, and as such rather hardened to it.. but I can see where a majority would probably consider it so. Some love was definitely put into this, and I respect that. Is it worth the asking price? For what you get? No it is not in my opinion. If you like the genre, and see it go on sale for $1.00 then I would say go for it under those circumstances, but as it stands the value prop is simply not there. So I look at this as an investment, I would be definitely interested in seeing what they could do with more substance behind it.

How do I describe this game. I bought it off a whim after reading some reviews on the game. I should have listened to the reviews. I'm not saying I dislike this game, but I won't say I enjoyed it though. My on record time spent playing this game consists of 2 whole playthroughs. The game is incredibly short, enough time for one of your friends to go take a piss and come back to it being finished. The only time I would recommend this game is if the person playing has never played VR, or has not experienced a lot of horror VR games. This game is offensively average. If it weren't for the price tag I would have not recommended this game, but because of how cheap it is and the decent graphics, I'd say go for it if you want to play a very short horror experience.
Ummm... maybe a dollar was a little much for this? It ended and I was seriously wondering, "Is that it?" It is like a highschool 3d project they put on VR. Here is the real issue.. the title. It says, "Face your demons". The problem is, there is only 1 demon.
"Face Your Demons" is an extremely lame VR tech demo made up of a bunch of assets stolen off the Unreal Marketplace. It's incredibly short, all you do is look at a stolen asset of a demon while some noises and stuff happen. All in VR. Remember kids, if the only cool thing about your tech demo is VR, then your tech demo is not cool at all. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $$0.99 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.
this was the most pointless vr experience i ever see. This should be free and not paid.
Experienced on the Samsung Odyssey, Windows Mixed Reality
You can watch my gameplay & initial impressions review here: https://youtu.be/MbWoKePjrB0 This is a very short, about 3 minute purely 360 3D cinematic experience. There are no interactions whatsoever. Gaze-based navigation at the menu. This is a low-budget indie artsy experience. Honestly, not much happens. You're inside a church. It's dark and damp with a burning bush where you'll face a demon. It says something. There's a jump scare. Whole thing is over in about 3 minutes. Is that worth .99 cents? I'm not sure really. It's not really high-quality enough. It may be interesting to some though. I don't know, maybe you can scare grandma with it. Rate 5/10. I think Satan would be disappointed with this though.
Face your Demons is a quick experience that I recommend to people having their first VR experiences, especially while having friends at home that would like to try your HTC. I did it and the party became a sort of competition of "who's gonna jump better", someone even took off their VR before the end XD Is a well done work, you can tell the developer took care of every design and details and put a piece of his own heart in it.
Face Your Demons is a free to play VR experience that is 3 minutes and one jumpscare. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, sounded ok, played ok. Uses gaze-based control. Can give nightmares to some people. Looked rather realish. Maybe try this if you like jumpscares but it is TOO short to be worth downloading.
