Low quality porn disguised as a low quality FPS. https://youtu.be/O2PmXR0TkY0 I was hesitant to do this game based on the... 'feature set' that was advertised. My fears were proven to be fairly accurate. Experiment Gone Rogue, also known as 10 Cupcakes, puts you in the shoes of a human super soldier genetically altered by aliens pretending to be benevolent rulers of Earth. It's a decent enough setup if we ignore the fact that humans wouldn't just let an alien race take over regardless of how nice they were. You run through a variety of levels while escaping fighting 3 types of enemies. The males that blindly rush you to get in a fist fight. The ledge riflemen that are never on the same level as you and peppering you with energy rounds. Finally the "Valkyries" or the female, armored, sword wielders. This was the extent of the "Varied Enemies" bullet point. There were unique boss fights that were fairly interesting however the levels themselves had 0 variety. There were destructible objects in the game but they offered nothing to the gameplay. Graphically I wasn't really impressed either. It wasn't outright bad but it wasn't quite good either. Mediocre. Game mechanics like grabbing rockets or grenades were beholden to the same grip setting as the weapons making them fairly difficult to throw well. As this was supposed to be a key part of boss fights it just added frustration. You're forced to choose between a throwing mechanic that makes sense and having to hold grip to keep your weapon in your hand. That gets really old, really quick. These should have been two separate options. The climbing portion of the game wasn't bad. Even including some secret areas to find weapon upgrades. Standard Climby mechanics. The flow of the game felt very stunted. The long winded story booths were oddly positioned in the levels such that you could go a while without getting one or you could have several back to back with little to no combat between. They were poorly placed had me feeling like I just wanted to move on already. I love story in my games but these felt like a chore I HAD to do rather than information I WANTED to listen to. Overall the FPS side of things felt like minimal effort was put into the game. The Go Go Bar. So we've discussed the poorly made FPS wrapper. Time to discuss the nougat center? Hmmm, not quite. The bar offers scantily clad women dancing on stage for you to oogle. A quick lever pull and they drop their clothes to both topless and fully nude options. There is an unlockable VIP party room that has many girls dancing on the floor in a group. You also can pick any stage dancer to give you a lapdance. The performance as soon as you walk in takes a dip. If you go into the VIP room, prepare for nausea as you drop to 15-20 FPS. The bar is very poorly optimized. Lapdances lock you into position over the lapdance chair with access to a button that changes the dancer. This button only works once and for some reason when you push it, your current dancer falls to her death through a trap door.... You're able to slap the dancer on her side to change her animation. There are 3 animations and she does have voice lines but these also repeat very quickly. Hopefully you were ready to quite the game when you started the dance because there's no way to quit the dance after it's started other than exiting to the menu. This game fails as a shooter and it fails as porn.
I always feel a sense of compulsion to write long reviews for games so bad that they piss me off, so here we go. When you enter a project with next to no apparent direction, it shows. This is how Experiment Gone Rogue seems to have come about, failing as both a shooter and as a VR game. Gameplay: the most basic building blocks of an FPS shooter are simple to grasp, plenty of guns, plenty of enemies, and a system of gunplay that ties them together that feels right. Well, there are a few different guns to use, though the supposed "better/special" weapons are barely worth the time to get them, and once you've gotten upgraded versions of the standard weapons (which happens rather early on) the enemies feel trivial. Speaking of enemies, there are a whopping total of three different types of enemies, at least in the traditional sense, that consist of two different melee enemies which are both defeated by simply backpedaling away like a mad man, and one type of ranged enemy that is always a sniper, no exceptions. Anything else to shoot at comes in the form of a boss, an interspersed flying enemy here or there, or a turret. They themelves deserve no special attention, all as bland as they come, I assure you. And the gunplay? Nonexistent. Guns have no recoil, as they are all laser weapons, yet they still have a a joke of bullet drop system attached to them. Enemies that do shoot back have no predictive firing, only shooting where you are, not where you'll be, and will never instill a sense of heat to combat. The one thing this game ever does that sparks tension is sending about twenty melee enemies after you, forcing you to try and shoot at them while combatting the horrendous movement system. More on that later. Graphics: a much easier topic to critique, literally nothing special about them, although at the time of writing, one of the later stages is literally textured using a Valve default skybox texture with only white and orange squares making up all of the walls, ceiling and flooring. On the highest settings, this game does not impress or even interest me. Also worth noting is that many assets of the game seem to lack a tonal theme, with some being dark and gritty while others are neon and futuristic. The game does, to its credit, seem to run with little issue to even a low-end VR rig like my own. Content: While I do not believ I finished all of this game's offerings, its lack of a structured and consistent checkpoint system had instances where I died and either went back a little bit of gameplay away, or was sent all the way back to the beginning of the level, instances of the latter leading to me dipping out of the game early. Entertainment: the most fun parts of this game are the climbing sections, which the developers seemed to get right, though they're spaced out in strange intervals throughout the game. There is, however, one part of this game that leaves a taste in my mouth so horrible, it needs its own place in the review. The Go Go Bar/Sharkie's: what I can only assume was a decision made exclusively to spark interest for the game, Experiment Gone Rogue features a strip/sex club, which is bad on a whole lot of fronts. First, even to judge it as a VR porn offering, it's not great. Walk into the club, strip a girl down using a lever and have her take you into a back room, where you are placed into a chair and treated to a sex animation that comes off as too cartoony to be in such a gritty game. I'd compare it to GTA V or even Duke Nukem Forever's dancing animations, but even those are more believable. I suppose the experience could be enjoyable to anyone provided they were in the right mood, but it was all just a bit too off-putting for me. Important to the overall game, however, is the fact that anyone who wants to try to enjoy this section will have to fight some of the lowest frame rates I've ever experienced in a VR game so far, which I imagine could easily induce extreme motion sickness in those who get it easily. I don't, but the experience was still incredibly frustrating. TL;DR: Don't play this game. Unless its developers completely turn around and revamp everything about this game, it's not worth your time. I myself will be keeping an eye out for such a turnaround in the meantime. You see the hours I have on this game? It's not even worth that yet.
Update: This game changed from even pretending to being an fps, to being a stip club simulator boasting of "jiggle physics". Not the direction I was hoping this would go in. Avoid this 'game'. ---------------------------------------------- Received a key to this game during their beta testing initiative, and while I can commend the developers for being very responsive to feedback, I cannot recommend the title. Here are the main reasons: 1) Unintelligent AI feeling very slow and janky. 2) Movement -- getting stuck on walls and environment was common. 3) Weapons do not feel like they have any impact. Gunplay leaves something to be desired. ----- Overall, this really feels like a developer's first attempt at making a game. If that's true, good for them. Not everyone gets to work doing what they love. It's just not quite there yet. [strike]However, there is some fun to be had here. Perhaps if the price tag were lower it could compete in the VR scene. I plan on giving this game a second shot and putting a little more time into it after a few updates. Will update review. [/strike]
It's a just VR strip club in the shooter wrapping
This is by no means a complete product. I was asked to beta test this and the game is really just as random as it looks. cupcakes, climbing tests, doom-esque mutant monster bossfights which end up dull bullet sponge battles, and then to top it all off (totally new to me), a strip club with creepy looking female models. this game really doesn't know what it wants to be but it's really a bad game, and i'm sort of ashamed for beta testing it as i was not told this would include a strip club with scantily clad women (what are the odds i'd guess that from the description of it being an FPS?). nope nope nope. Removed this game from my library that i received for free.
I don't know why I bought this game. Maybe the action trailer hyped me for an awesome VR FPS or it was the strip club scene including girls with interactable boobs.... yeah most probably it were the boobs Do not buy it above 5 bucks and let yourself distract from the trailer, the game is not like that. The game is slow and mediocre at best. At least they got the boobs interplay right somehow, but for that you can buy something else in Steam which does not require you to complete a meh FPS game first.
was good starting out but you got puzzels i guess with no clue of what to do and when you get ready to leave an area it blocks you out with no reason just wondering do people make sure these games work or just sell them and hope for the best?
A mediocre shooter with inspiration stolen from (but a poor immitation of) Robo Recall and Tron with a bit of 90's Duke3d. Basic monsters, silly AI and huge open spaces. The shooter is lack luster and dull, the only motivation is really making it to the next strip club to see some breasts. Then there's this "reward". Recycled models and pretty ordinary textures. If you want a shooter, don't get this. If you want a game with strippers....don't get this.
I joined the beta test for Experiment Gone Rogue on their discord server, but today I played the game’s latest build. You start off in a sci-fi looking room and you have a bunch of cupcakes to eat and trash to throw in a bin next to you. Throwing was a bit hard and I missed all my shots but then I got the hang of it. Then an elevator sends you in this industrial area where you have to climb your way through. I loved the climbing it was satisfying, although you could grab the spaces between the ladders. My favorite part is the locomotion. You can choose between teleportation and walking. I prefer walking and the devs have provided a lot of settings to adjust it, my favorite being the fact that you can change your walking speed. Because I almost never get motion sick, I chose the fastest one and the one thing I didn’t like about it is that it was still too slow for me. There is a sprint button but your stamina is very short which frustrated me even more. There are those melee enemies that you punch that I felt like they die a bit TOO easy. One punch and they were down (maybe because I was playing on easy, on hard they might be harder to kill). I found the punching quite fun though and I wish there were more enemies that you are able to punch, not just these troopers. Overall I think the game is fun, I played for almost two hours and I felt like I wasn’t even getting close to the middle of the game. I read there are 5 levels and I think I am still on level 3. It needs a bigger variety of enemies and a lot of overall polish, but that’s normal for a game in early access. I will definitely stick around for the updates.
