Perfect little horde game for those who grew up with flash games. The gameplay is similar to other horde survival games. You need to move around the arena, dodging attackers as your weapons attack automatically. Once you have collected enough experience orbs from defeated enemies, you will be able to choose one of four random weapons. If you choose that weapon again, you will improve its effectiveness. Enemies run after you and attack in straight line or with an area attack. The longer you survive, the more types you encounter, and occasionally a mini-boss appears. These drop a chest containing extremely valuable upgrade, such as a familiar that attacks enemies or a magnet that increases your collection distance. The stage concludes when you have survived for enough minutes and defeated the final boss. Although the game only has five stages, you will need to complete seven smaller side missions to unlock new characters. Their stages are a little different in that you must defeat an enemy under a set time limit or avoid allowing adversaries to pass. Except for their distinctive weapon, there is no difference between the characters. Everyone moves and plays exactly the same way. Every character can be upgraded in the shop. Because you can only improve your character's attack, damage, and weapon, the selection is limited and too similar for everyone. Each upgrade may only be purchased once, however you must do this for each character. This is unnecessary because all main stages may be completed with the first character.
Ziiiiiiiieh! ... Komm schooon, lass mich nicht hängen! ... Jetzt aber! ... (Austin Powers) ;-)
Exodus: Creepy Time is a compact but atmospheric indie action game that blends top-down shooter mechanics with light roguelike progression, wrapped in a world shaped by curses, monsters, and a constant sense of looming danger. Developed and published by HugePixel, the game positions itself somewhere between arcade immediacy and survival-driven tension, offering an experience that is easy to grasp yet demanding enough to keep players engaged through escalating pressure and steady character growth. The game opens by dropping the player into a corrupted realm overtaken by a mysterious curse that has twisted the land and its inhabitants into hostile creatures. Storytelling is deliberately restrained, conveyed through environmental cues, enemy design, and the oppressive tone rather than lengthy exposition. This approach works well for the game’s scale, allowing the atmosphere to do most of the narrative heavy lifting while keeping the focus squarely on survival. There is a persistent sense that time itself is working against you, reinforcing urgency and giving even routine encounters a subtle edge of anxiety. Gameplay revolves around fast, top-down combat where movement and positioning are just as important as raw firepower. Players navigate compact arenas filled with waves of enemies that attack in varied patterns, forcing constant adjustment rather than static play. Combat feels responsive and fluid, encouraging quick reactions and smart use of space as enemies close in from multiple directions. While the core shooting mechanics are straightforward, the increasing density and variety of enemies prevent encounters from becoming mindless, especially as later stages demand sharper awareness and tighter execution. Progression is driven by a familiar but effective upgrade loop. Defeated enemies drop resources that can be used to enhance stats, unlock abilities, or modify how your character performs in combat. These upgrades gradually shift the power balance, giving players a tangible sense of growth as they push deeper into the cursed world. Different skill choices allow for subtle build variation, whether leaning toward aggressive damage output or prioritizing survivability. While the system is not especially deep, it provides enough flexibility to keep repeated runs feeling purposeful rather than redundant. Enemy variety plays a key role in maintaining momentum. Standard foes are joined by tougher variants and occasional mini-bosses that serve as skill checks, demanding better positioning and more thoughtful use of upgrades. These encounters break up the rhythm of regular combat and inject spikes of tension that keep the experience from flattening out. Boss-like enemies in particular emphasize pattern recognition and sustained movement, reinforcing the game’s core strengths rather than introducing entirely new mechanics. Visually, Exodus: Creepy Time adopts a bright, slightly cartoon-styled aesthetic that contrasts sharply with its dark subject matter. This contrast gives the game a distinctive identity, making monsters visually readable while still unsettling in design. Environments, while somewhat repetitive, are functional and clear, prioritizing gameplay readability over environmental storytelling. The art style may not appeal to players looking for grim realism, but it supports the fast-paced action and helps keep encounters visually legible even when the screen fills with enemies. Sound design complements the atmosphere effectively. Subtle ambient audio and ominous musical cues reinforce the sense of dread without overpowering the action. Combat sounds are crisp and informative, giving clear feedback on hits, damage, and enemy presence. Together, the audio and visuals maintain a consistent tone that keeps players immersed despite the game’s relatively simple presentation. Replayability is supported through unlockable characters, achievements, and the inherent variability of roguelike progression. While the overall content offering is modest and the environments do not drastically change between runs, the combination of escalating difficulty and incremental upgrades encourages multiple playthroughs. That said, players seeking long-term depth or extensive variety may eventually find the experience repetitive once optimal strategies are discovered. Overall, Exodus: Creepy Time succeeds as a focused indie action title that understands its scope and leans into its strengths. It delivers satisfying top-down combat, a steady sense of progression, and an atmospheric world that balances horror themes with accessible visuals. While it does not reinvent the genre or offer expansive systems, it provides a solid, engaging experience for fans of arcade-style shooters and light roguelikes, making it an enjoyable journey through a cursed world that rewards quick reflexes and persistence. Rating: 6/10

(Nota 6,5/10)
