This game is simple, easy to understand and control, yet frantic tactical and makes players feel powerful. I like the way the games upgrades actually feel very powerful, and each upgrade changes the way you play.
Excellent little game with a lot of re-playability for the price. Love the minimalist controls needed. IMO, rare to find such a "tightly" designed game like this that isn't some kind of puzzle game. Really boosts the fun for me.
Really great fast paced roguelike. A good level of difficulty to keep it engaging, and it's a very fun game to chill to without investing too much time.
Fun game, splattercatgaming did a video and i liked what i saw! The game is fast, fun, and relaxing. Its a nice combination of skill (timing), luck (rng map and shops), and tactics (what to buy, when). Solid foundation for building out a great game!
So this game has one really big problem that is so big, yet so easy to fix by the devs, that I considered making this review negative just so they see it. DEVS PLEASE FIX. The runs only get fun 5 minutes in. Other than that, the gameplay is REALYL fun and unique. On any other game, this wouldn't be a problem - but each run here is 10 minutes long, and they start off so easy (and also with bad control issues that get better once u get some of the modifiers) that it's really boring till halfway through. This is a shame not only for the obvious reasons but also because this would otherwise be the perfect pick-up-and-play quick game, the perfect thing to play for like 5 to 10 minutes during a break before getting back to work. The reason why this game isn't fun for those 5 minutes is that your ship is so slow, and enemies so weak, that it simply does not feel fun. There's an old adage that the best action games are the ones where you are perpetually 10 seconds from failure. That simply is not the case here - the game only jumps to the level of 'very easy but not boring' at that 5 minute mark, when enemies get more dense, when you get powerups that make your ship move faster (thus making the timing challenges harder and the speed more exhilarating), and by the end of the 10 minutes, it only reaches the difficulty of "OK". The only times I died it was because of attrition -I'd make a bunch of small mistakes over like 10 individual skirmishes that in the end add up. This does not make for fun gameplay because each individual fight doesn't feel like it has stakes - I could get through any fight super easily barely putting in effort, even if it would cause problems later. All of this is on Normal mode, but mostly carries through in 'spartan hard' mode, which I don't like, because the enemy density increases, BUT YOUR SPEED AND POWERUPS do not. My suggestion to the devs is simple to implement but admittedly hard to rebalance - increase the player's base speed by, say 70%, and make the starting enemy density equal the density about 3/4s of the way through a run and go up from there. Also, make your allowance for mistakes (IE the infection bar) far far lower, (such that it could be filled up within one or two fights at most) and make more stations that allow you to reduce it (or make reducing it the reward for winning a fight without taking any HP damage or infection) This would make the game far more fun right from the beginning at the start of a run, and make winning one far more rewarding and challenging. With those changes, this could be in the hall of great, super fun arcade pick up and play classics that you can just do a quick run of and have fun immediatley. As it is now, you have to spend about half your run being bored before you get to the fun of it. And it is VERY fun. This is some super fun, super unique gameplay, that only gets more fun when you get the orbit freezer, the ramming dash, the multishots, etc. The graphics are good, though it's not my preferred style, but it's very well done. The game feel is super good too. This is probably the best arcade-y ish game since Lauftrausers (which is the game I thought of most while playing it). Devs, I would love if you really made the changes here and made something special. I know rebalancing an entire game is hard (I've done it before on my itch.io arcade games) but I feel like making this game an edge-of-the-seat, white knuckle arcade experience would be so easy and make it so much more fun. To everyone else - GET IT, because hopefully it encourages the devs to make these minor changes!
This game is a lot of fun and well worth the price. Yea, I do wish it had some sort of meta progression and more equipment. For what it is, though, it is incredible. Specifically, I would kinda like to see a continuous "laser" that you can hold to fire (kinda like those late game enemies have). I think that could be fun, and lends itself to the game's energy system.
Simple, tight controls, lots of replayability. Definitely worth the price. If it's on sale, a definite buy.
