I really want to like this game I really do. The unique way of doing combat thats punishing and feels satisfying when you learn it and also have the space to manuever you won't btw but it is really cool and I wish more games would experiment with the medium like this but unfortunately for some reason the developers decided that you don't get to have access to any form of healing unless you are lucky and find the one potion that might exist in a random crate or that maybe spawned on shelf. Now don't get me wrong I love a rougelite the experience myself but it just doesn't fit this hardcore format well. The game is to experimental for a RougeLite system that by design punishes the player for being unfamiliar with the controls when simultaneously the game it self is built around providing you a novel and unfamiliar control scheme. Please for the love of making money give the player something to heal with at the start. I know this game is your passion project but hear me out ok? You can check my library if you don't believe me. I am a prime representative of the "gamer" demographic I have dumped 1000s of dollars sunk in my collection. !!!!THIS COULD BE A SETTING!!!! its 2026 and we still aren't adding accessibility options for difficulty when its like right there. You are coding up the game anyway just code in that sweet slider for how many heals you get to start with and then everyone can experience the whole game or atleast more than just the first level..... f%&* sorry lol I love this game tho just wish it had better balance
When I bought the game, I thought the concept seemed really fun, and it was for the first 10 hours or so. After that, it just became frustrating, and even making it further than before felt empty to me. Getting something done does not give me the same feeling as it does in Dark Souls, for example. My major problems are: Your character keeps getting stuck on random debris, corners, and doors. It takes ages to make any progress. I'm 23 hours into the game and still struggling with the armored skeletons on level 2.5. I'm sick of doing the exact same thing over and over just to make no progress. Skill issue? Probably. Honestly, a save option for noobs would be very much appreciated. The game makes no effort to properly teach you how its mechanics work beyond the basics. It wasn't until my tenth hour that I noticed I could do an overhead swing by double-clicking. The world feels oddly empty despite the multitude of decorations and details. For example, other than one pouch containing a key, there's basically nothing to find, and 99% of the rare items are completely useless and essentially just collectibles. Enemies are too aggressive and constantly push forward, while your character crumbles like a crouton whenever you try to push an enemy. The torch causes horrible lag, and even dimly lit areas are almost impossible to see unless you're sitting in a pitch-black room. The arena mode feels very barebones and was only fun for about an hour at best. Getting knocked out isn't fun when the enemy who knocked you out sticks around and keeps smashing your head in before you can get back up. I don't know about others, but getting my character to swing from the left is unbelievably unreliable. I hate Derrin. He seems completely useless, and I hate that he loots on his own despite saying he shouldn't touch anything. The squeaking noise that happened when I wore full leather armor was very funny, though. And for everyone saying that the combat system just clicks after a while: I had absolutely zero problems with the Practice and Arena content, and anytime I get to an actual enemy with actual skills, I get killed in a matter of seconds, which makes it impossible to gain any meaningful experience. I think modding could save it for me.
actual ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
The Combat? Intricate and pleasantly jank. The Systems? Intricate. The Exploration? Rewarding. The Level Design? Immaculate. Will it fully release in my or your lifetimes? Debatable.
Truly a one-of-a-kind RPG. If Darksouls had a love child with Kenshi and Halfsword it would be something close to Exanima. If you are the kind of player that does not want you hand held, likes to discover things for yourself, and can handle some punishment, this game is for you. Long dev cycle? Objectively, but it will reward your observation skills like no other. There is no better time to get into Exanima than in 2026. The game has had major updates recently and they are on track in a huge way. This game is deceptivly large and will test your spatial awareness constantly.
Most unique game i ever played.
I've never seen a game get this much support over such a long time. Huge respect to everybody involved making me come back to this year after year. A very unique and long running RPG experience that essentially mainstreamed the physics based combat model. There would be no Half Sword without Exanima. Cheers!
игра кусок говна особенно боёвка....просто 2 пьяных бомжа деруться..управление топорное персонаж неслушается его от слова совсем
Greatest game to be released in 2039 <3
