I have only briefly messed with some of the default stuff and tinkered around with some drum kit sounds but I must say this is easily one of the coolest things I have seen in VR yet, the ability to just chill and make your own beats and music in virtual space like this is simply amazing and I love the visual colors that are generated by what you play and soar into the sky it is so beautiful and relaxing. This is the future of music creation. Room scale acts great but I would much prefer natural joystick locomotion instead of the teleporting but this is my only small gripe. this product is being slept on, Support the devs and buy this software!
I'm a musician. I find this VR program extremely powerful in producing music. So so cool is the program. You can see your VR self playing one instrument, while you lay down a track for another one and in the end of your song you see an entire VR avatar band playing BUT THEY ARE ALL YOU? There are so many layouts to choose from including some fantastic once from the community and in fact you can create a layout entirely from scratch and customize every aspect of your "studio". I highly recommend this musical program, there are others I have tried most but none of them are as productive as this one.

DEVELOPERS ARE NOT DEVELOPING THE GAME ANYMORE! I'm not a musician. Can't even play an instrument. It is a perfect game to make musics. I hope they earn enough money so the developers return back to their project to develop more features in the game, fixing any issues they will face and motivate them to take care the game.
I didn't know VR could be so musical! I haven't even figured out how to tap into even half of this software's potential and it is till mind blowing. Sometimes it is fun to let the pre-created/publicly shared play and watch the ceiling visualizer!
This software, although I have not played much, is fun and entertaining, truly brimming with infinite possibilities. If you are a music enthusiast, I would very much recommend picking up this game.
This is one of the coolest VR music programs I've tried yet. I almost didn't find it, since it wasn't appearing on the Music tag. On a whim, I tried VR + Audio Production, and found this. There's so much about this that I like. Being able to make all kinds of unique instruments, being able to play them alongside friends or clones of yourself, it's awesome! One of the first things I did was make the instruments that the robots from Animusic play in Starship Groove, and it worked flawlessly! The only downside/issue that I ran into was the fact that it doesn't play nice with Virtual Desktop on my Quest 2 headset. Luckily, other people had that issue as well and found a solution, so I was jamming in no time. Weirdly, that solution makes it so that Steam doesn't count the playtime, so even though I've been going for a couple hours, it says less than half an hour on my account. TL;DR: This is super awesome, and I'm going to keep using it for a while to try to play a bunch of songs. I kind of wish that development wasn't over, as I'm sure that more could be done with this, but at the same time it's at a really good spot and I'm glad I stumbled my way to finding it!
I've been playing around with EXA for about a month now and it's one of my favorite vr apps. For $15 highly recommend if curious. I play on the oculus quest, & even though it has to be linked it's never been a issue since its easy to use the app standing or in a chair. I play 0 instruments irl, but love music. And have tunes bopping around in my head all the time. EXA allows me to do what i've always wanted. Pick sounds, notes, instruments etc. and assign them to different "ringers". Then play by hitting the notes however I want. Record & mash up different loops. It's awesome. The different "playing tools" are so legit and can really change up the sound. Because I have no experience with any sort of music production software, idk how this stacks up. It's a little rough around the edges, but for a newcomer to music this is a lot of fun to play around with. I look forward to seeing how this program continues to refine itself. I guess qualms would be; 1) It would be awesome to add vocals, if there's a way to I haven't figured it out yet. 2) It would be cool to turn off/down some of the flashes that happen when hitting ringers. At least while arranging the song, it can get to be a bit much
Really simple an fun system for making percussive instruments and layering loops. It's got some powerful options, but is missing other types of synths beyond percussive and interactive filters that can work well in VR.
WOW!! I've been looking for this for years! Be sure to check out my first published EXA tune "Cars" by Gary Numan! WOW!!
It´s really fun to make music in vr, it´s simple, just draw your instruments and assign a note and a instrument to it. you can extract audio from the game to make real songs with it if you are experienced with soundengineering. If you are into music, get it
