About
In Evoscape, the player and each enemy is made out of cells. If all cells are destroyed, an organism dies.
Have highly specialized or more generalist cells, by picking specific genes for them. Become a slow moving powerhouse, by dividing your valuable cells a lot, protect your strong cells by building a defensive cell wall around them or stay small, agile and versitile. The strategic possibilies are endless.
Destroy specific enemy cells first, to hinder their ability or cut them in halve to destroy large parts of the organism at once.
Fight a wide variety of hostile organisms and bosses in an action packed melee- and range combat system.
Each boss organism has its own mechanics, that test your strategic descision making, as well as your agility.
Counter enemy attacks with timing-based parry system with parryable and unparryable attacks, to keep you on edge.
Venture into the mysterious world of microbiology and explore nine large, handcrafted, visual distinct areas. To enhance replayablity you will find the levels changing, with different paths and challenges each time you enter while still having a handcrafted, purposeful level design.
Start as a single-celled organism. Divide your cells to grow and enhance your organism into a creature that is fit to survive in a hostile environment. Each cell has its own set of mutations, so you not only have the choice of which upgrades to pick, but also where to place them to have the best synnergies between them.
Cell division multiplies all mutations of that cell, but has an increasing cost. Decide when to start copying your upgrades and when it's best to build up cells by picking new upgrades.

Mix and match random mutations of 11 genes to build a unique playstyle for each organism. Find synnergies between genes and between mutations within genes.

Just picked up this awesome little roguelike cause I'm a biology geek. I think I stumbled on it on reddit maybe? I've only done two runs so far but I'm super impressed. The gameplay is stressful but in a fun way, and the build diversity seems very cool. You start as a cell with a regular old projectile. You can add new weapons onto your cell, but both weapons will do less damage. Or you can divide, and make a new cell to put new weapons onto - but this makes you slower and hungrier. There's lots of interesting tradeoffs and combos like this. I ended up with a three-celled creature. One had long range poison shots, the second had a short range poison spray, and the third placed an aoe that also stacked poison, but more importantly healed me based on how many poisons were applied to enemies inside it. Beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of a fungus, but I stumbled into the lair of a plant boss by mistake and got nommed.
