I will recommend the game if anyone looking for a space game that has missions to complete to shoot enemies; upgrade or buy new space ships and buy/sell commodities. I think the buy/sell commodities is its weakest. What I will warn about is grinding. I saw the ship I wanted and it's 138K, and the missions only give like 1200, some main missions maybe 4000. You will also sell whatever you scavenge, but weapons are like 200-500to sell early game and regardless how you calculate, 138K is far far away to grind. I'm not aware how many ships are sold , maybe just the same 6, I have no clue, I haven't got that far in the game, I just entered the 2nd star system so far and I am getting wiped out. The problem is, here we go again, I will have to grind again to get myself close to the enemy level, becasuse right now they are one-shot me. So while I'm recommending the game, if you ask me in score, this game is no more than 6.5 out of 10. The grind and the barely developed market and selling pulls the score down. Graphics is amazing, music is very generic. Play this if you are bored and want to pick a fight with some pirates and grind for money.
Sci-fi - ✓ Space - ✓ Synthwave - ✓ dog-fights - ✓ ace combat? - ✓ Damn this game is stacked 8.5 HIVE's dissatisfactions out of 10 Yes, Kle'ko. You have to play it
at the asking price it feels OBLIGATORY to check out Everspace 1, especially since they put that one on sale under $2 USD regularly. Piloting your ship in this series has a learning curve, but is pretty rewarding, dare I say, my favorite spaceship piloting experience. There's like 3 types of boost every ship has, and with the right ship upgrades...3 extra mobility boosts. What sets this apart is that instead of a Rogue-like, this is a space action-adventure. Don't plan on leaving your ship and walking around, though. The galaxy you get to navigate is decent. The gameplay loop feels intentionally simple. There's mining, dog-fights, buying new ships, fetch quests, crafting, and upgrades. When it comes to weapons, it feels like this game constantly throws weapons at you with limited inventory. The variety is cool, but the number of options they give you is like drinking from a fire-hose at times. the lore is like a 4/10. there was effort put into writing and making you feel like there's politics and factions and stuff, the voice acting is even decent, but all the characters feel bland and unoffensive. the DLC is basically post-game content. Don't buy it until you're 20-hours deep into the base game. Take aways: -don't buy this until you tried Everspace 1 -understand the pacing is different -avoid DLC until you've beaten the base game or are 100% confident you want post-game content -Space ship goes vroom.
Fabulous space shooter, with silky-smooth graphics, an easy interface and cheerful story. Great fun and well worth it.
