If you played this game in 2026 and expected an AAA experience, you are considered a dodo bird. This game, just like launch, is amazing, but dated. it was developed and popular before most of these twerps parents were born. dodo birds doomed.
After a couple of days of playing i went afk to recover HP and when i come back i see this message "Due to unusual activity on your account, we require additional account security and verification, in order to continue play. Please click here to add a valid mobile phone number to your account." I don't have a phone atm (broken) so can't access the game anymore (Support don't event respond my ticket), I'm already playing via Steam, why i need to give them extra info? and what is this "Unusual activity" they mention? being afk?
Great game. The new Frostreaver server is a lot of fun. I'm new to the game but can recommend.
What can we say about the MMO that started it all? 25 years later and still releasing expansions! Graphically, not the top of the line, but gameplay and story it's second to none. Deep story driven content even before the game's first expansion. It's grindy to get anywhere, and not AS quest driven as modern MMOs, but it absolutely has a laid back feel and ability to play with as many friends as you want at a time (raids can be done over 100 players). The playerbase is generally helpful and friendly when interacted with, and with mercenaries, you can play just about any class solo if you want or group as you like as well. Spambots aren't a concern, but you can multi-box all you want as well without violating the TOS. Optional subscription which is honestly one of the best subscription plans I've seen from any company presently, and even the ability to buy that subscription using only in-game currency if you want. I would give the game 4.5/5 stars even by today's standards. Give it a shot if you like super open world and self-driven MMOs. Play on Firiona Vie and almost everything is tradable, so you can sell or heirloom older gear and not have that expensive piece of gear you used leveling just go to waste now that you outgrew it.
The day after trying out this game, the company demanded I give them my phone number for 2-Step authentication and no way to manually delete my account. Stay away from this company!
One of the greatest MMORPG's of all time.
EverQuest is one of those games I always wondered about but never played. Having finally tried it in 2026, I can absolutely see why it became such a phenomenon. But there's something else I can see: You really had to be there. This game puts combat front and center, yet I often felt like a spectator rather than a participant, reduced to pressing a few buttons and waiting for the outcome. I have no problem with old games. I spent years playing MUDs, and will happily spend hundreds of hours playing DOS RPGs from the 1980s. But unlike those games, EverQuest's gameplay rarely felt like anything more than waiting for numbers to change. Even as someone who enjoys passive RPG archetypes such as pet builds, I found the entire process relentlessly boring. I can only recommend it to people who are curious about its history, or who already have fond memories of it. Unfortunately for the latter group, the game's current custodian, Daybreak Game Company, has embraced pay-to-win monetization, which you can verify for yourself on EverQuest's membership page. For a game that derives so much of its appeal from nostalgia, Daybreak seems to be missing the point. Sometimes you simply can't go back.
... Look, this is STILL the BEST MMO world ever made...
only other game that is like final fantasy 11.
The age really shows. Most people seem to be multiboxing at this point. As a new player this game isn't very friendly solo. not impossible so if it really sings to you give it a shot as it has good MMO bones but with most multiboxing leveling is a real pain. Also as a new player discovering things on such a niche game is kind of rough with a few content creators and websites that look like they are from the 90s.
