If you want na action game with frame perfect dodges and parries, or an open world game with lots to explore, this isn't a game for that. The gameplay is a tab-target MMORPG, that means that the you select an enemy target and your attacks go in the direction of the slected enemy. While that is a real time, not turn based. As said, this isn't an open-world, the world is made by several hub areas where players can see each other and from the hub areas players can access self contained instances with only the party (up to 6 players in standart quests and up to 12 players in raids). Inside these instances players can find enemies, puzzles, traps, chests, locked doors, secret door and some good stories. The gameplay variety is where this game shynes, you can make a character focused on combat, while your friend makes a character focused on traps and both will perform well in the game. Altought overwhelming at first, there are systems to make the most ridiculous builds by combining up to 3 different classes in the same build. About the moneytization, this is a freemium game. Although you can play it for free, there are quests and instances packs, classes, races, enhancement trees and other stuff selling on the store. By playing the game you earn some points to buy stuff in the store and at some milestones you unlock classes, races and enhancement trees. There is also a subscription option that unlocks almost every thing while the subscription is active. How f2p friendly it is? About 1/5 of the quests are f2p covering every level. 11 races are free, 7 races and the iconic (special races that are variants of the normal races starting at lv 15 and only being able to reincarnate at lv 30) are premium. From the 15 classes in the game, 12 are free and 3 premium, there are 10 achetype variations of the free classes, 6 free and 4 premium. There is some powercreep in the game, named itens from newer quests are likely to be better than older ones. But there isn't much difference in power level from free and premium classes and races.

Very fun, very thorough 3.5v DnD game. Play solo, play with friends, play with new friends found in the city of Stormreach. Been playing since 2009, absolutely love this game.
Crate Smashing Simulator
Warlock is a blast (literally), but the free experience feels like a tour of warehouses and sewers. Too many repetitive objectives, too much crate smashing, and most of the quests veteran players recommend are locked behind paid adventure packs. By the time you've bought enough content to experience the game properly, you've spent more than the cost of a modern AAA title. Verdict: Just play a more modern game.
Not free to play requires a sub this is misleading shame.
how is one supposed to play? I did a refresh on my username, got everything sorted. Logged in on the launcher and it says i don't have an active subscription? I then go into the account and the only thing i can click is lorto subscription? There is nothing indicating DDO in anyway? How does one supposedly get a subscription or even get the client to launch in the supposed F2P option? LOL i know it's old but come on, gotta be a way to still play it if others are? If someone can help me, would be greatful
love this game BUT greedy ferengi corpos r distorying it :( needs a discovery lawsuit & govt regulations ...its not the worst iv seen but im geting sick of the shady BS
Still one of the best 3.5 D&D game adaptations. It's the kind of game you can come back to party with friends and go loot a dungeon. The amount of character customization is almost on par with the TTRPG. It captures a lot of the unique character feel that made WoW: Classic great. Focus is on character customization and the dungeon crawls. As of lvl 14 I don't think you're exploring "a living world".
Doesn't let you scale up the UI through any means I can tell. That alone makes it unplayable on any high res monitor.
This is the best MMO ever. The quests and the freedom of the builds are amazing. I honestly don't know how WoW got so big when it is a far inferior game.
it's alright
