Everest: Real Climbing Simulator is a mountain-climbing simulation that pursues a level of scale and realism rarely attempted within the genre. Developed and published by Funcity, the game challenges players to experience the immense physical and psychological undertaking of climbing Mount Everest through a recreation built using real-world geographical data. Rather than presenting Everest as a backdrop for action or survival spectacle, the game treats the mountain itself as the central challenge, emphasizing distance, endurance, planning, and the overwhelming size of the world's highest peak. The most striking aspect of the project is its commitment to authenticity. According to the developers, the mountain has been recreated on a full 1:1 scale using satellite information, allowing players to traverse an environment designed to mirror the actual dimensions of Everest. This approach immediately distinguishes the game from many other exploration or survival titles, where realism is often sacrificed for convenience. Here, the mountain feels genuinely massive, and that sense of scale influences every part of the experience. Even relatively short movements can feel significant when players realize how much terrain still lies ahead. Unlike traditional adventure games that constantly provide objectives and rewards, Everest: Real Climbing Simulator derives much of its appeal from the journey itself. The act of climbing becomes the primary gameplay loop. Players are encouraged to appreciate the harsh environment, the long stretches of snow-covered terrain, and the gradual progress toward the summit. The game captures the idea that climbing Everest is not about speed but about perseverance, making patience one of the most important skills required for success. One of the more interesting design choices is the inclusion of two distinct gameplay modes. Reality Mode is aimed at players who want the closest approximation of an actual Everest expedition. Travel is slow, deliberate, and demanding, reflecting the realities of mountain climbing. The developers suggest that a complete ascent can require an enormous time investment, reinforcing the idea that this mode is intended as a serious simulation rather than a conventional game experience. For players who prefer a more relaxed approach, Entertainment Mode offers an alternative. This mode introduces features designed to make exploration more accessible and enjoyable, including vehicles such as snowmobiles and additional environmental elements that are not necessarily focused on realism. The inclusion of these options broadens the game's appeal by allowing players to experience the mountain without committing to the lengthy and demanding process required by the simulation-focused mode. The atmosphere is one of the game's greatest achievements. The vast stretches of snow, towering cliffs, and distant mountain ranges create a powerful feeling of isolation. There are long periods where players are surrounded by nothing but wind, ice, and open space. Rather than feeling empty, these moments often enhance immersion by communicating just how remote and unforgiving Everest truly is. Few games manage to create such a strong sense of solitude through environmental design alone. The visual presentation benefits greatly from the subject matter. Everest is naturally one of the most impressive locations on Earth, and the game succeeds in capturing some of that grandeur. Looking across valleys, climbing icy ridges, or staring toward distant peaks can produce genuinely memorable moments. While the environments are dominated by snow and rock, the sheer scale of the landscape prevents the scenery from becoming entirely repetitive. The mountain itself serves as a constant reminder of the challenge players are undertaking. The game's ambition extends beyond its current implementation. The developers have outlined plans for additional mechanics, including advanced weather systems, camping features, resource preparation, and survival elements that affect stamina and health. These planned additions suggest a long-term vision focused on creating a more complete climbing simulation. Even in its current form, traces of this ambition can be seen throughout the design philosophy, which consistently prioritizes realism and immersion. Another notable strength is the educational aspect of the experience. While it is not presented as a documentary or training tool, the game gives players a greater appreciation for the challenges associated with high-altitude climbing. The vast distances, harsh conditions, and physical demands help communicate why summiting Everest remains one of the world's most difficult accomplishments. By emphasizing realism, the game provides insight into the scale of an undertaking that many people only encounter through documentaries and news reports. However, the title's ambition also highlights its weaknesses. Everest: Real Climbing Simulator remains a developing project, and certain aspects of the experience feel incomplete. Some systems lack the depth necessary to fully support the simulation's grand vision, and technical rough edges occasionally become noticeable. The game often feels more like a foundation for a larger experience than a fully realized final product. The deliberate pacing may also prove divisive. Players accustomed to fast progression, constant action, or frequent rewards may struggle with the slow and methodical nature of the climb. There are extended periods where little happens beyond movement and observation. For simulation enthusiasts, this restraint contributes to immersion. For others, it may feel repetitive or uneventful. The game's overall value depends heavily on player expectations. Those seeking a realistic mountain-climbing simulation will likely appreciate the dedication to authenticity and scale. Players expecting a survival-action experience or a heavily scripted adventure may find the gameplay too minimalistic. Much of the enjoyment comes from embracing the concept and allowing the mountain itself to become the focus of the experience. Despite its shortcomings, Everest: Real Climbing Simulator deserves credit for attempting something genuinely uncommon. Few games are willing to center their entire identity around accurately recreating a single real-world location on such a massive scale. The project demonstrates a clear passion for mountaineering and exploration, and that passion is visible throughout the experience. Everest: Real Climbing Simulator is an ambitious and often fascinating simulation that succeeds in conveying the scale, isolation, and difficulty associated with climbing the world's tallest mountain. While unfinished systems and pacing issues prevent it from fully reaching its potential, the game's commitment to realism and environmental immersion makes it a unique entry in the simulation genre. For players interested in mountaineering, exploration, and realistic recreations of extreme environments, it offers an experience unlike almost anything else currently available on Steam. Rating: 6/10
Game should not have been released. No instructions, no options. Hope the developer will fix as this could be an interesting game. Its looks like something a 12 year old would try in computer programing class.
