I've played this game since 1998. I liked it very much so I bought it again. But this game does not seem being compatible with modern joysticks (I am using VKB joystick). I tried deleting dinput.dll but doesn't work. The game just doesn't recognize my joystick. I am very disappointed.

Einfach schnell mal eine schnelle Mission fliegen wollen und 5 Sekunden später schießt man die ersten B-24 in seiner ME262 aus der Luft. So eine einfache Zugänglichkeit suche ich bei neueren Flugsimulatoren seit locker 20 Jahren vergeblich. DCS? Nein Danke, erstmal 100 Schritte auswendig lernen damit die Kiste auch nur anfängt irgendetwas zu machen. Ace Combat ist leicht verdaulich, aber doch schon sehr auf der arcadigen Seite. Zudem spielt man da neuere Vögel ab den 60ern und keine dollen Kisten aus den 40ern. IL2? Klar und dann hängt man 2 Minuten später in einem ewigen Kreisel fest, bei denen die grottige KI ständig am Rand des Strömungsabrisses versucht hinter das eigene Flugzeug zu gelangen Nicht hier, der Computergegner versteht sein Handwerk. Lässt sich in drei Stufen an die eigenen Fähigkeiten anpassen, wobei das mittlerere Niveau für Menschen die nur gelegentlich mal ne Runde fliegen bereits knackig ist. Das Spiel lässt sich vernünftig mit dem Gamepad steuern, der große Flightstick muss also nicht unbedingt vom Schrank geholt und abgestaubt werden. Tastatursteuerung ist auch noch erträglich. Negativ fällt auf, das die Steuerung anfangs nicht richtig konfiguriert ist und man erstmal ein wenig nachstellen muss damit alle Funktionen verfügbar sind. Nachdem man sich an den Schnellmissionen sattgespielt hat kann man sich ja mal an eine Kampagne wagen und den Schwierigkeitsgrad und die Realismusoptionen hochsetzen. "Aus der Box" ist das Spiel recht arcadig eingestellt, es lässt sich aber zu einer vollwertigen Simulation umstellen. In den Menüs habe ich flackernde Schriften, sonst gibt es keine Probleme mit dem Betrieb unter Windows 11. Bei AMD-Grafikkarten kann es zum Crash direkt nach dem starten des Spiels kommen wenn der Rivatuner Statistics Server läuft. Den sollte man vorher beenden oder deaktivieren. Bei Nvidia Karten hatte ich das Problem nicht. Schönheitspreise gewinnt die Optik nach 25 Jahren bestimmt nicht mehr, kann aber grade in der Dämmerung durchaus stimmungsvoll wirken. Abschließende Worte: Gelungener Flugsimulator von den Profis bei Microprose, der auch 25 Jahre nach Release noch gefällt.

I played this obsessively when it first came out 25-odd years ago. The Battle of Britain campaign is still great fun to play. Not many nostalgia games age well but this one has. Plays great with an Xbox controller plugged into my pc. Love the squadron chatter; "Let's get those blighters!" Sadly none of my old mods seem to work anymore :(

오 그리운 나의 20대 시절이여.. 배경음악만 들어도 그시절이 그리워 눈물이 나올지경이다.. 게이밍존에서 함께 날았던 파일럿분들은 모두 50대 이상 준늙은이가 되어 있으시겠군... 보고싶다 다들 건강들 하신지.. 1.게임폴더내에 dinput.dll 을 삭제하면 조이스틱이 정상적으로 작동한다. 2.그래픽을 글라이더로 적용 하려면 폴더내에 nglide 파일을 실행해서 해상도를 4:3 으로 변경후에 Aspect ratio 를 Aspect correction 으로 변경해라

Thank you very much Steam and Microprose/Atari to bring this legendary game to Windows 10 and later. If you are a nostalgic game collector and have a modern computer, this is a must. I wish that other games of good old combat flying sims come back to us thanks to this effort to recompile the games to modern Windows systems.

Despite the game works I can not recommend it cause in my case after a few missions in the carrier path game will crash to Windows after I attempt to continue carrier by loading it. Uninstalled.

A classic, one of the best flight sims ever created. Its modding community was off the hook in 1999-2001. Steam and GOG releases are NOT playable out of the box in Career mode. My issues include: - crashes due to videos unable to play, on every career - throttle would not save correctly in Config Settings, sometimes rudder also - garbage tacked onto the end of my EAW.INI file constantly and would not save my keymapping for targeting; tried setting EAW.INI to read-only but that didn't work See MarkEAW's excellent and extensive documentation here for any issues you have: https:/eaw.neocities.org

그 옛날 게임잡지를 사니 무료로 줬던 게임 (무려 패키지채로) 당시에는 홀로 하는것도 모자라서 PC방에서 친구들 데리고 단체로 즐겼던 게임 다시 해보려고 켰더니 추억은 고이 모셔둬야했다고 생각이 든 게임
