i hate this game but keep playing

The book says mean things but I get to shoot it so it's fun

Enter the Gungeon is a really good game. It was the best stepping stone you can get for entering the genre of Roguelikes and Roguelites. The gameplay is pretty fun & addictive, the guns are pretty good mechanically with all of them having different uses and having a shocking variety in their VFX. The dodge roll is a solid mechanic and is very well complimented by the passive items you can get across the game. Gameplay-wise it is very good and engaging, as most rogue-like combat systems need to be to ensure they don't grow stale or boring. The story of the game is fairly light, as it needs to be in this sort of goofy game, but character backstories do get a good amount of emphasis since the whole goal of the game is to KILL THE PAST, and that is fairly well done. The humor, style and references in the game are the main selling point in my eyes. You can guess from the name that EVERYTHING IS A GUN PUN. All the characters, items, enemies, bosses even the areas are all related to guns in a really funny way. As an example of the gun-ness of the game I will tell you it is possible to shoot guns out of a bullet shaped gun, these guns shoot bullets out themselves, and you are shooting at a SENTIENT BULLET, who has a GUN and fires at you. You can also BE ANOTHER SENTIENT BULLET while doing this. Other than the gun puns the game has other good jokes dotted around. References are the lifeblood of this game there are references to EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING. Most guns, bosses and items are from other media or references to them with series such as Die Hard, Terminator, Super Mario, Metal Gear Solid, Shovel Knight, Street Fighter and a buncha other series. You can play this game like "Where's Waldo?" hoping to find reference your favourite piece of media and by God you will find it. I Love It Honestly this review may not really help anyone but it was fun to blurt out how much I love the game so Im happy :). I hope EtG 2 lives up to this game

too hard for me personally to get to further chambers without getting really lucky with rng that gives me a gun that doesn't do jack.
