Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek

I've played a bunch of Artifex Mundi HOP games before I got to this one. This is one of their older games, and the age shows compared to the newer titles. One of the biggest things I missed in this game compared to newer games was the ability to navigate using the map. In this game, you have to hoof it by hand everywhere you want to go. There's a map, but it just shows you where the locations are in relation to each other. You can't use it to fast travel. There were also some rough edges on some of the click targets and interactions. Some of the HO puzzle objects required being clicked in a very specific place before they would register. And the lockpick puzzle was very fiddly trying to get the lockpick to engage with the lock. That said, there were a much higher number of HO puzzles in this compared to others I have played from this studio, and they were more challenging. Overall this game was much bigger and a bit more difficult compared to their newer titles, and I found that pretty rewarding, so despite the rough edges, I'd recommend this game to fans of the genre.

A great time waster. Don't expect DiCaprio acting or Shakespearean storytelling and you'll be fine!

Challenging! My grandma had this game on her Kindle when I was but a wee lad and I wanted to replay it, so I did, It's surprisingly hard! Probably the Hardest Hidden Object style of game I've ever played although I haven't done very many, so that might not be saying much. Playing the game on it's own is pretty fun, although I imagine to get the full experience you'd want to play the other Enigmatis games as well. I probably won't any time soon but I'd say go for it if you want. The story element of this game is very fun! Although I imagine this is not the first Enigmatis game so you kinda just jump right into the middle of everything, but the "I remember now!" moments make the story coherent enough, The hidden Object part of the game is toouugh, but not impossible, esp if you memorize the scenes. The puzzles are also tough! but a good level of challenging for me when I just wanna chill. In short, you should probably play the other Enigmatis games alongside this one, but if you like the genre, go for it!

Puzzles are fun, story is good. BUT! I seem to have gotten this game a very long time ago and only now played it. I don't know if it was free or whether I got in on a sale, but the current price feels a bit too much for the amount of gameplay (I completed the whole game plus the extra adventure in about 5-6 hours - the extra time is the game open while I was afk lol) and for the lack of replayability. I definitely suggest if on sale, it's for sure fun!

This is actually one of the meatier games from the developer, and it had a lot of hidden pictures puzzles and the point and click aspect was well done. Great art as always. The voice acting and animation is so-so but I'm glad it's not the crappy AI so many developers are using now. I look forward to the sequel!

An sich ein gutes, unterhaltsames Wimmelbild-Spiel mit einer guten Story. Auch wenn es nicht an seine Nachfolger herankommt. Ein grosser Kritikpunkt sind die teils fehlerhaften Übersetzungen in Wimmelbild-Szenen. Die gesuchten Objekte entsprechen teils gar nicht dem Wort. Ohne Tipps kommt man fast nicht durch.
