Nice game when you are into this kind of easy puzzle games. Riddle wise I have seen it all before but there is a very good variety and nothing hard to block your progress. The story is simple and told in a rush, I guess no time for such things as we have to save the world... Achievements are plenty and easy to get. Good for a rainy afternoon.
In spite of the story, the game works and has some decent puzzles, so I'm going to recommend it. But BOY HOWDY is Artifex Mundi bad at mythology. This was the equivalent of telling me that Loki and Whisky Jack are the same person. I suppose you CAN mix Greco-Roman and northern European myth, but why on earth would you? The protagonist is also dumb as a rock, but that's to be expected.
I liked this game a lot, it has that classic adventure feel to it that these fantasy type of games do. I just finished a spate of playing games that were more like the real world with supernatural elements to them, so this was as welcome return to form. I think that I just like the freedom they have with storylines and and ideas more in the fantasy setting games. The story is a twist on an old story of mythology, and I liked it just fine. Not the best of these games, but definitely acceptable and was fun to follow. The music was pretty good, I found myself noticing how much I liked it when I was playing and the puzzles were good too. There was a nice variety of both normal puzzles and hidden object scenes. The hidden object scenes even had the variations where sometimes you are following a list of items in text, sometimes you're looking for a collection of objects to assemble something, or sometimes you are finding and using items in the scene in a certain order to eventually find one single item. Just really good classic gameplay. I will also say the colors, the animations, the quality of the scenes were all very good, very vibrant with a lot of colors that I missed while playing gothic or pirate-themed games. If I have any criticisms, it's mostly three things. First, some of the puzzles were a little too easy sometimes. Some were hard, so it's balanced, but you might find some to not be very challenging. The second was that the collectibles are genuinely hard to find. I had to play through twice to get them all because they way they are designed, some specifically call your attention but then others are placed in an area with the same pattern and color and they're almost invisible. And then the last thing was that the pacing could be weird at times. I usually feel like the way items you can pick up are paced on most games you never have so much in your inventory that you need to scroll through it horizontally. This game you always seemed to have a ton of things in your inventory. But even though these are criticisms, I could see how some people would like them too. I didn't really have a huge problem. A nice, easy puzzle is fun to ace sometimes. Having a lot of items to use all at once can make you think a bit more about where to use them and be an extra challenge. The collectible issue for me was really the biggest thing and I wish this game had a collectible indicator in the HUD that tells you if you have a collectible in that scene to pick up, but it does not. Even then, some people might really enjoy seeking difficult collectibles out. So even the criticisms are kind of just preferences. I did not have any technical issues with this game. This game does have collectibles and a bonus adventure. This game doesn't have a difficulty requirement for achievements.
Mythic vibes, light on actual HOG
Playtime: 3h24m • Completion: 72% achievements (remaining ones are filler/perfect-score chasers) TL;DR: Strong mythology-driven story with good atmosphere and that polished Artifex Mundi look. But for a game sold as a HOG, there are only ~10 hidden-object scenes, and several puzzles lean on creaky, out-of-fashion motifs (think 7th Guest/11th Hour leftovers). Full price (€15) = no-go for ~3 hours; okay in a deep sale/bundle. Conditional Recommend (sale only).
What clicks
Story & myth: Surprisingly well executed; the Minotaur thread carries the campaign. Atmosphere & music: Sets a consistent mood; audio does some heavy lifting. Art style: Clean, vibrant AM-house style—scenes are nice to look at.
What drags
Too few HOGs: Only about ten; the HOG-to-puzzle ratio feels off for the label. Outdated puzzle beats: A handful of “that old chestnut” designs that were already tired in classic FMV puzzlers. Achievements: Remaining ones are filler/perfect-score—padding rather than meaningful goals. Value take Full price (€15): 3/10 — not enough content/challenge to justify it. Deep sale/bundle (≈-80%): acceptable for a mythic evening. Short & Dirty Ratings (10 = best) Story/Mythology: 8.5 Atmosphere/Music: 8 Art/Environments: 8 Hidden-Object Content: 4 (too sparse) Puzzle Design: 5 (some stale patterns) Length/Replay: 5 Value: 3 (full price) / 7 (deep sale) Overall: 6/10 — Conditionally Recommended (on sale/bundle). Verdict: If you want a myth-heavy casual adventure with pretty scenes and a solid vibe, this delivers. If you came for lots of HOG scenes or fresher puzzle design, adjust expectations—or wait for a discount.
good
