This is EASILY the most ameteurish board game adaptation I have EVER seen. Practically no effort has been made to ensure that the game transitions smoothly into a computer program. There are barely ANY animations in the game, despite a lot of pieces moving back-and-forth (you only see ships move, everything else happens instantaneously), there's barely any UI design and the game just uses card images with relatively tiny text to denote planet names (for reference I was playing on a pretty big 1080p monitor and the text was difficult to make out), and so on. YOU CANNOT SAVE A GAME HALFWAY THROUGH. That's genuinely baffling in terms of how bad it is. You cannot alter the few options from the main menu either, you have to go into a game to do it. The tutorial ends up being pretty bad due to all the above reasons, but also the tutorial dialogue just appears in the middle of the screen in a huge dialogue box that obscures what you need to click, 90% of the time.
Clearly not ready for public release yet (17-Dec-2021). Very disappointed so far .. :(

No save feature and the game is riddled with game breaking bugs. The AI is rather terrible also. Don't waste your money or time on this until it's fixed.
Very promising, at least interface and tutorial-wise. The tutorial is clean and explanatory (given the fact that this is indeed a complex board game which I've tried to learn several times and this is the first time I think I could catch it); the interface is 2D and completely analogous with the board game (it has Laukat's art, so why wouldn't it?). The menu items are clear and intuituve, as it is the log. There are a couple unpolished details that, for now on, doesn't influence on gameplay and/or clarity. Movement, actions, ships and tokens, all follow the logic of the board game, making it very intuitive. I keep asking myself why other game developers doesn't try this strategy when porting board games to the digital universe, instead of using new art, new tokens, confusing interface, etc... I just still have to test the AI, i'll update my review when it's done. UPDATE: - No Save Game feature. This is kind of a deal breaker for some (it would be also for me). Guess it could be easily solved in an update. - AI make ridiculous choices/moves most of the time. I mean, ridiculous. As 'making 5 times the same stupid choice of going to war with less than 0.1% chance of winning' kind of ridiculous. I will keep playing the game to learn the rules, cards and all the components, to be able to play ir properly in its physical version. As it is right now, I found not much use for it as a proper digital implementation. I will keep my positive recomendation nonetheless, hoping for future improvements.
Despite a recent spate of patching (a year after the release!), this is still not a viable port of the boardgame. It is virtually impossible to finish even a short game without running into some bug, glitch, or oversight that brings the whole thing to a screeching halt. Empires of the Void II LITERALLY does not work. I have no idea why a publisher would license out a boardgame for this sort of shoddy treatment. Do they not have extra copies in the warehouse they could deface rather than hiring a third party to deface it digitally?
Revised Review is "yes". Developer has fixed known bugs. Graphics are beautiful. A great way to learn the game and play with friends online. Looking forward to playing in person some day with a real board.
I have changed my rating from NO to YES. I was excited to see this come out, and admit I was a bit disappointed in the initial release - too many bugs, some which froze up the game. I have found that it is now much different - the games I have played so far have not had any playability issues. There are still a few visual things that happen, but nothing that prevents me from playing the game. The Drone AI is much less "stupid" than the previous releases. Not super smart, but it makes halfway decent moves (rather than just going back and forth on the map). Will be trying the harder AI soon. The interface is fairly intuitive to use, especially if you know the rules. The visuals are great, and the music is pretty good as well (though it can get repetitive after awhile, but there's a decent variety in there). I now feel that this is a pretty decent digital adaptation of the board game, and look forward to seeing the continued polish make it shine even more.
Not ready to be presented as an early Alpha yet. Eager to see when it's ready in probably a year.
Fantastic game! Everything is fixed and the game seems to work perfectly now. I didn't have any problems with bugs etc. The A.I. was very competent on Master A.I. level. Overall it is was a very enjoyable experience and I thank the designers for not giving up on this great game. I really love it!
Недавно ознакомился с несколькими цифровыми адаптациями настолок. Root - классная, но не совсем мое. Gloomhaven - хардкор просто, можно смотреть. А вот Witcher Adventure Game, Wingspan, Roll for the Galaxy - не понравились.
