Having used Rocksmith 2014 as my sole guitar "tutor" to date, I decided to try a proper learning package to pick up techniques instead of just learning songs. eMedia's Interactive Rock Guitar popped up on Steam and has good reviews elsewhere, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, I'm not impressed and cannot recommend it to anyone. The software starts and I can read the lesson text, but none of the videos, sounds, or interactive content work at all. Attempting to use this content results in a very non-descript "script error" message. It's something reported elsewhere (including the Steam forum) yet there is no entry for it in eMedia's tech support datebase, and no clear fix. But let's be honest... such basic content like playable videos should not be a problem with a professional piece of software, should it? Submitted a support ticket but will likely just refund this and try something else. Very disappointed. EDIT: Apparently works if you install Quicktime on your system. I do not expect to have to install third-party software I don't want or need to be able to use a product. I would also expect this requirement to be detailed in the product description, the tech support, or within the product itself, as it can and will affect people's buying decisions. Poor product, poor info, poor support, so it's still a negative review from me. There are far better and more modern alternatives that don't make you jump through hoops.
It runs but gives a script error. Doesn't play sounds or videos and notes don't show properly. If there's no fix, I'll probably refund it. EDIT: It was too late when they come up with fixes, I already refunded the software. Therefore I have no idea if they work or not. In my honest opinion, software needs a little more than a fix. Maybe some visual update would do. I know developer answered this review... I hope they can do something about it. In the future, if I see positive reviews, I might re-buy it. Regards~
The negative reviews above held me back in buying this for a bit, but I'm glad I got it. The information given is straight forward and easy to understand. Sure, it kinda looks like a CD-rom from the 90's but It works just fine for it's intended purpose, so who cares. I think it's funny. I've had no crashes or bugs at all after nearly 13 hours of running the software. Soundsamples work fine, video work fine. Bought this software in a Steam-Sale, it helped me get started with guitar. Playing together with a friend so now and then. I think it's money well-spent. Don't expect to learn guitar like Neo learns Kung Fu in the Matrix. Doesn't look like you'll end up being a rock god after you finish with this software, but from the exercises given you'll build a good foundation in skill and techniques.
This product is EXCELLENT!!! I tested several different features... everything works great. I was surprised by the 2 negative reviews, so I had to check it out. Just like the emedia Bass and emedia Guitar.... this is a great educational program. I definitely wasn't disapponted. But just like everything else... you have to practice, practice, practice. The cost of this software is the cost of one 30 minute guitar lesson... so it's definitely worth the money. Rock On!!!
I have used this app now for more than 70 minutes and did not find any problem. Everything works fine and is very clear to me, to play it on my guitar. I think i'm going to love this. Thanks to support steam as well!
Great program to learn guitar and rock and roll...just love it.
Hey it is working for me, discount weekend, YES!
5 hours in: I've done a lot of courses, but this is the first one that had me rocking in what seemed like minutes! Up till now I mostly play melodies, but this course threw me into power cords and distortion (don't click away, it's easy and great), and damn I love it! The course is well laid out and very easy to use. Including nice short videos giving you exactly what you need for that lesson. I say buy this and give it a try. You should be able to get a good idea if it is any good for you within 2 hours of use. I'll update this review once I get a lot further in.
it's ok if you never touched a guitar before. if you know the basics i would recoment you to buy ultimateguitartabs pro version. lots of songs en exercises for beginners up to advanced players. where this program only shows you the basics and doesn't have full songs on it only certain riffs and intro's.
