Площадка для общения в виртуальной реальности с возможностью создания аватара с собственного лица. Собственно, только на это и клюнул. Установил, попробовал и разочаровался. Понравилась возможность настроить аватар. Это, пожалуй, все. Лицо действительно сканируется с фото. Но, как я ни старался, собственного лица я так и не увидел. Пробовал разные фото и даже фото чужих людей. Результат был одинаково ужасен. Судя по снимкам из галереи, у других пользователей была та же проблема. К лицу прилагается стандартного размера тело в полный рост, повторяющее движения рук и головы. При перемещении подволакиваются и ноги. На выбор гардероб и прически. Для перевоплощения в вашем распоряжении персональная унылая гримерка, которая ведет в такую же игровую комнату. Несколько дней я пытался встретить там хоть одну «живую душу», но тщетно. Игры в комнате реализованы на том же уровне. Хочется отметить дартс с огромными стрелами и стол с детскими кубиками. Используя гаджет на левой руке, можно снимать фото и видео для общей галереи. Стоит добавить, что женские аватары получаются на ступень выше мужских - лица не пугают, прически не напоминают пучки соломы, а одежды не так однотипны. Заслуживает внимания белое платье, в отличии от других дарующее полностью завершенное тело. В целом унылое и скудное приложение. Идея была довольно неплоха, но до толковой реализации она не дожила. Может быть, в дальнейшем приложение доработают до стоящего продукта, но на данный момент до этого еще очень далеко.

EmbodyMe Beta is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this software. Instead of being a game, EmbodyMe Beta is a software application that is an abandoned attempt to create yet another godawful "Metaverse" chat room, this time with the idea that you scan your face and they mangle that onto a VR "avatar" for you... yeah, nobody wanted this and the developers abandoned it over 6 years ago. Good riddance. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and then the game decides if that finishes a row or not, increases the players score if any rows were completed, then gives the gamer another block to position. Counter-Strike has a game loop where a player seeks another player, tests their skill against that player by shooting them or being shot, the computer rewards the player if they win, and then if the player survives, they repeat that loop. There's no loop here, no true interactive feedback. It simply is not a game, it cannot be "played". This has misleadingly been launched in the "Games" section of Steam instead of the "Software" section. This is a common mistake for developers who are new to Steam, or don't understand the difference between games and software which isn't a game. It seems this software published incorrectly as a game is simply lack of experience/knowledge of the correct process. Publishing things which aren't games on Steam in the Games section as games is misleading to gamers and somewhat harmful, because it pollutes the Steam marketplace and takes away visibility and market exposure for genuine game developers who do the right thing and make games for gamers. There are no gameplay loops in this software, no "gameplay", no meaningful game like interaction. It's a software application and as such has no merits as a video game for gamers. Because of this, I cannot recommend this non-game software as a game to gamers.

New Negative review 7 Sept 2024 = Tried it with my new Win 11 system with Index, Program says press A, but does not load, just says press A again. Stuck in loading lobby. Don't bother installing this program. Old Positive review 13 June 2018 = EmbodyMe Beta is an Early Access VR social experience game. (Update Jan. 2020, tried this game again on my new VR system. ) It worked on my HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Looked cool that it maps the face from a photograph. You can place a photo of yourself in the directory and it can copy the face to your avatar. Maybe the devs should make the face photo morphing technique open source so other VR programs can use it. Gives you a whole body real person avatar, moving with input from your headset and controllers. You can change clothes and Hair, by grab dragging it to your body. You enter a huge room with a ladder to a balcony. There are Darts and 2 dart boards. The darts were very large, like Lawn dart large, they were too heavy to throw like pub Darts. Have 3 spray paint cans for some one to spray on the walls. Have magic pills at the mirrors that temporary change the model of the face of the avatar to like animal shaped. A station with some blocks that you can stack. There was a Door on the wall in this Room that had Coming Soon sign. The problems i found was: - There was nobody else playing. - There is very little content to do in the main room. - There is only one room that everyone meets in. - Looks like the Devs have abandoned this. Try it, if you are looking for a quiet place to meet in VR.
