About

Emberwake is a 2D survival strategy game where you must protect the last ember of hope in a world plunged into darkness. Lead your villagers, gather resources, build defenses, and fend off relentless waves of undead as you struggle to keep your campfire alive.

Your campfire is the heart of your village, providing warmth, light, and the will to survive. During the day, send your villagers out to gather essential resources—wood, stone, and food—to prepare for the night’s onslaught. Build and upgrade defensive structures around your campfire, ensuring that your village is ready for the impending darkness.
As the sun sets, the undead emerge from the shadows, drawn to your campfire. Each night brings more enemies, and your survival depends on your ability to defend your camp and keep the fire burning. Every decision you make is crucial—will you strengthen your defenses, or risk sending your villagers out for one last supply run?

Resource management is key to survival in Emberwake. Carefully balance the needs of your village by allocating tasks to your villagers, from chopping wood and mining stone to hunting and gathering food. Use your resources to construct new buildings and upgrade your existing structures, ensuring your village can withstand the growing threat of the undead.
As you expand your village, new challenges arise. Over-harvesting resources can lead to scarcity, while upgrading your campfire and buildings unlocks new opportunities for growth and defense. Manage your resources wisely to keep your villagers alive and your campfire burning through the darkest nights.

In Emberwake, combat is a test of strategy and endurance. Arm your villagers with weapons purchased from the Mystic Merchant, and position them strategically to fend off waves of skeletons, shadow creatures, and other dark forces. Upgrade your defenses with towers, barricades, and other fortifications to hold back the horde.
As the nights grow longer and the enemies stronger, you’ll need to adapt your tactics to survive. Will you focus on strengthening your defenses, or take the fight to the undead with a more aggressive approach? The choice is yours, but beware—one mistake could spell the end of your village.

Every decision in Emberwake matters. The dynamic day-night cycle brings new threats as darkness deepens, challenging you to adapt and rethink your strategies as the game progresses. Balancing resource management, defense building, and combat tactics is crucial to surviving in this unforgiving world.
Survival depends on your ability to anticipate and overcome the growing challenges as the nights grow longer and the enemies more fearsome. Whether you’re a master strategist or a newcomer to the genre, Emberwake offers a deep and engaging experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

This is a fun game. You manage your villagers and build a fortified settlement. It takes a while to figure out some things involving best order and mechanics of defense and gathering. It is not too difficult. I think its just right. It takes hours to build a nice town. You have to time the gathering of resources by your villagers and pay attention to the signs each night, so they do not die while gathering. There is a high score board everyone participates in for total score, but it just records. I like Emberwake because its hypervigilance management can lead you to having a strong town if you keep building and gathering like a madman. Be careful how close your archers get to the walls when the skeleton hordes come to attack. I hope they keep adding more to the game like their roadmap says they will. It might look kind of like Kingdom, but Emberwake is its own game for sure. I like supporting independent game studios because I always wanted to make games, but testing them is a nice consolation prize for me because I am not a programmer type human. I think we should support the small studios and independent game makers that make good games like Emberwake. Looking forward to future updates and new builds as testing goes along. I hope more people get to see this game hiding among 40,000 games here on Steam, because it deserves more attention from the players.

I've completed the game as of 27 of February of 2025. So far I enjoyed it a lot. A simple game to play, beautiful, easy to understand with beautiful music and scenary. So far I liked it a lot, really looking forward for more content. I'll reply it as I would like to get all archivements. Totally recommend it to everyone that want to have fun in a super chill and cozy game.

Hello, i'm really enjoying this game, i'm up to 70+ days. the bugs i'm facing so far are: 1- my villagers glitch and won't work ( they haven't gone insane ) i have to restart the game for them to move again. 2-when i loaded my game, all of the event buildings, church, mill, quarry, fruit tree etc have all appeared in front of my campfire, looks very messy haha. 3- i can't get 2 achievements, upgrade every building to max and upgrade all towers to max, unless there are more towers etc then i think my buildings are glitched, can not upgrade anymore, i have also done the portal previously. other than that, i'm really enjoying the game
:) __________________________________________________ A nice game, although a bit simple and quite short. The learning phase is a bit challenging, but nothing too complicated. Once you understand how it works, it's hard to lose a game. For me, the visuals are successful, but I have a weakness for pixel art ;) I haven't encountered any bugs, and the performance is quite good, even on a non-gaming laptop. The only downside for me is the game's lifespan. It's possible to complete a game in a few hours, and the interest in restarting is mainly due to the scoring (and, of course, the fun of the game). In summary, Emberwake is a nice experience for fans of rather modest indie games. You shouldn't expect a game with a huge amount of content, but the experience remains really positive. Good work for a single developer! :)
It's kinda like Kingdoms, with more interaction with your villagers. But max of 6 villagers, so things don't get too manage-y. Play to see how long you can survive and top the leaderboard. No meta-game elements.
Google trad: Very good relaxing games of the genre with a little difficulty in discovery. We ask for more once the game is over and you can start again with the aim of climbing the rankings. Negative point: the amount of content a little low, in a few hours you would see all the content and finished your game but enjoyable to play. Nice work from the developer.
