I gifted this game to a friend whose name was Elijah, lived in Ohio, and looked like the titular character in the game.
i would've checked this as a non-recommendation if not for my desire to see them fix the control scheme and make a good final product. please developers, think about what you've done to the poor poor control scheme... it's a goddang war crime. like seriously even with a controller, it's just far too much of a drag and i personally can't play it like this.
Something strange is happening in North East Ohio! As Elijah you must traverse the varied world (suburban Cleveland) while searching for clues and solving puzzles to progress. The world is full of ridiculous adult humor (think south park meets adventure game). The design and art are also as colorful as the language used in the game. The game has definite replay value as some things can be challenging. There is a lot to this craftily made indie game!
I really enjoy playing this game and expect great things from this game in the future as updates and improvements start rolling out Keep up the great work!
It took a bit, but this game really warmed up to me the more I played. Not sure what to compare it to... perhaps Zelda I and III on NES/SNES as you get multiple tools to help you in your quest and are encouraged to re-explore areas. I played most of this on the steam deck and had zero issues though the top info bar and some text may be difficult to read. The story is simple, but engaging. Gameplay is simple too, but it's not just about recognizing patterns of your enemies, but keeping track of the buildings you enter, what you get, did you get stuck because of a missing item and need to come back later? I liked how there were multiple ways to obtain items or make things in buildings easier to deal with whether it be through brute forcing things, charming people, hacking computers, or just outright buy the item. Some people might not like the art direction. It looks like something out of Windows 3.1 or classic Flash games on Newgrounds. But hey, that screams to me "Retro" and "Old School". Some may find the adult humor a bit much, but I found it hilarious. Two things I didn't care for - 1) No real way to pause the action. If you take a break, make sure you are on a screen with no enemies nearby (usually as you enter a new area), go to a safe building, or enter a dialog. 2) Walking off frame a bit is enough to respawn enemies. Be careful. Some Tips: * Make sure you read the manual (shows up as additional downloaded content) for some good tips which I wish I noticed before jumping in. * As the manual states, activate the cell phone tower when you can (talk to NPCs, they'll tell you what to do and where it is). * Charisma attribute points can't be bought so work on this through level ups. This also allows you to charm NPCs and lower costs. Strength also can't be bought in the store, but there's a gym you can go to. As the manual states, the Mind Attribute will be important but there are items that can help give you a boost. * In each city there is a building with a bed. Look for them and memorize where they are, you'll use them a lot. All of this done by one individual, PDS. Very impressive. I'll be playing Daisy Flies to the Moon as it appears everything in connected in some way.
A fun game with an interesting story. Lots of dialogue. https://youtu.be/FyrpHJ0SWYs
Incredibly story heavy that has a lot of potential going forward.
I love this game for it's retro look and feel, If you like Nes/Snes titles this game maybe right up your alley...I will say, the map in the game is rather large, once you leave the starting area and find your brother
I am Elijah, and I'm from Ohio. Very true to life. Thank you for recounting these events
I haven't beaten those yet but so far it's been very enjoyable. I've actually gifted it to several friends.
