If you like Tower Defense, be sure to get Elemental War 2. The gameplay is like its predecessor... Plenty of different towers (over 100), many different strategies and a lot of fun. (My review of the 1st Elemental War: https://steamcommunity.com/id/stretch611/recommended/917850 ) Unfortunately, there is no longer a map editor, but that is because the old grid style maps have been replaced with beautiful hand drawn maps and paths. In fact, graphics as a whole have been fully upgraded and it looks spectacular. The towers have new unique designs, and the effects have been improved as well. Like the predecessor, there are items that drop from the elementals. Items can grant passive global abilities, can be inserted into tower to improve or modify that tower, or have a special use that operates on a cooldown system. In addition to the basic items, you can unlock more powerful items by completing quests on each map. The game has online leaderboards (across all platforms and consoles) as well as an online co-op mode. You can use your preference of a mouse/keyboard or a gamepad/controller. Elemental War 2 has a native linux build and it works great with Linux Mint 20.3 with AMD graphics using Vulkan drivers. That native linux build allows Elemental War 2 to work fine on the SteamDeck as well. The developer is quite responsive and does a good job fixing any issues as well as being open for suggestions to improve the game. He is easy to contact either through the steam forums or discord. Thanks to the randomness of the game, I ended up playing nearly 500 hours on the first Elemental War, I would not be surprised to play Elemental War 2 just as long.
Played this a HUGE amount on Stadia and have repurchased on Steam now that Stadia is closing down because its one of the best TD games i have played. The depth is immense. I love the item drop system where you get perks to add to your towers as the stage progresses. The freedom combined with the risk / reward to choose which elemental spawns and then the resulting stress of dealing with that is really fun as well. The devloper is VERY active and supportive on twiter and youtube as well. The attention to detail and refinement of the interface, each tower design and combo is really significant and you can tell that they have really refined the whole experience over the course of development and through feedback. Its one of those games that really grows on you the more you play it and the more you learn.
ver.1.1.4 でも止まります!
Fun to play coop with a friend, but could use better explanations about the mechanics. The game starts pretty slow but can get difficult later on. Would also be nice to see how much gold your coop partner has and a message when they leave the game.
Played the first map and it's quite fun so far. Definitely an improvement over the predecessor! + Gameplay mechanics still are the same, but with many small tweaks and enhancements + Graphics are a lot better (there are still some flaws like in the main menu) + Nice soundtrack - No speech output (would be great for the characters) - No story campaign (at least I didn't find any) Tutorial worked okay for me, but maybe still a little too difficult for beginners. Hope the next maps are as varied as the first!
Can't play the game. Shows a few intro screens then a black screen with music playing then bounces me back to Steam screen. Seems like developer doesn't have a clue.
